An obvious addition to this section PACKERS THREAD BABY!

Why the hell arn't there any Packer's threads? I'll do it if no one will. Please post your comments on the current Team, i don't want to hear about the past.

silent_jay 01-10-2004 10:49 AM

brett farve is the epitome of perseverance his dad dies and stiull comes through nothing will stop them

BigGov 01-10-2004 11:23 AM

Current team?

The wide receivers are some of the worst in the league, Farve has had an under performing year, Ahman fumbles more than Tiki, the linebackers are very sub-par without Barnett, the defensive line is mediocre, and the secondary often gives up too many big plays.

Spartak 01-10-2004 12:30 PM

How the hell didn't Barnett win Defensive Rookie of the Year ?

Oh, and the Packers will lose.

Strange Famous 01-10-2004 01:51 PM

I see the Packers going all the way to the super bowl, destiny is behind them. The wide outs are al sub-par, but they have a good half back, a couple of good tight ends, and Favre is still probably the best all round QB in the league IMO, he is just a pure gunslinger. I think the momentum that have is going to carry them very close to winning everything.

thephuse 01-10-2004 04:20 PM

The Packers DO have a lot of momentum behind them, and are that means a lot in the playoffs. I hope they go all the way, but the Eagles will be a formidable opponent..

Kurant 01-10-2004 07:00 PM

If you want to bet against Favre, be my guest.

I woulden't.

DonNutz 01-11-2004 09:04 AM

Lets go Pats! Stick it to those Philly bastards!

Sion 01-11-2004 01:14 PM

um, DonNutz - the Pats (aka the Patriots) are in the AFC, the Eagles are in the NFC. the only way they meet is in the Super Bowl. However, I do think there is a good chance that will happen. The Packers are unlikely to get by Philly, so that leaves the Eagles and the Panthers in the NFC championship. I'd put my money on Philly to win that game.

on the other side, the Colts will be taking on the Patriots in the AFC championship game. thats a tough call, I almost hope I lose in the tourney so that I dont have to pick a winner in that one. the way Manning has been playing is phenomenal, but New England is the most complete team in the league, with a much better defense than Indy has. I suspect the Pats will win that game, but I wouldnt want to put any money on it.

Kaos 01-11-2004 05:22 PM

THEY BLEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!

The_Dude 01-11-2004 05:26 PM

favre's throw was just SAD. but nobody's perfect. even great vet's make mistakes.

paddyjoe 01-11-2004 06:20 PM

Yeah, probably any one of us could have made a better throw, BUT, how could they let them convert 4th and 26!?!

un-fucking-real!

cchris 01-11-2004 06:40 PM

But if it werent for Favre then the wouldn't have got this far.

Hhmmm.

Such is life.

SAM821 01-11-2004 07:01 PM

I really feel bad for Favre... I thought that it would be a magical season for him to dedicate to his father... It was very sad and Ironic that he blew the game with that toss.... Sorry, Packer fans!

Kaos 01-11-2004 07:30 PM

Regardless of that horrible pass, the coaches made some terrible decisions. And the fact is, the defence should have shut Philly down in Overtime. Hell if they did their job that game shouldn't have even gone into overtime.

thephuse 01-11-2004 07:41 PM

they shoulda gone for it on 4th and 1 with around 2 minutes left. I'm sure they woulda converted cuz the eagles couldnt stop the run the entire game...

ugh.. what were they thinking? GRrrRRrr

BigGov 01-11-2004 09:59 PM

Ok, that throw that Farve made was not that bad. Hell, that was probably the best result that would have happened.

If he had not gotten rid of the ball, he would have been nailed by THREE guys at once, two running at full speed from opposite sides, the third would have put all his weight into him from the front. I've been a Packer fan for almost all my life and have seen almost all the times Farve has gone down, and I strongly doubt that anyone would have held onto that ball, especially if they have their thumb broken in three places.

After the ball was in the air, Walker also changed directions. He failed to watch Dawkins who watched the entire flight of the ball while he back pedaled and caught the ball.

The Eagles finally got one of their blitzes to work as they wanted, and it couldn't have been at a better time.

Anyone that says they can make a better throw WILL do one of these things: 1) Throw it out of bounds, which would be incredibly stupid, because it would be intentional grounding because you'd still be in the pocket. 2) Take the sack, promptly losing the ball and allowing the Eagles to run the ball in. 3) Wait, there isn't a number three because by the time you can do something else you're nailed by three Eagles.

Farve did the best he could do, heave it up and hope it was incomplete. The only side he could throw it to, Dawkins was out there playing center fielder.

They couldn't stop the run, except for the short runs, like the 4th and 1 on the goal line which Philly stuffed.

Zeld2.0 01-11-2004 10:43 PM

It was too bad Favre's season ended on the note it did - with rumors about that he might retire rather than face another offseason, that sucks big.

Have to give some credit to the Eagles and McNabb though - damn good running today, his rushing really confused the Green Bay defense. And when it seemed all over, 4 and 26, he converts and we end up with OT.

Absolutely. Going for it on the goal line and missing, then not going for it later - both mistakes. Should have taken the easy 3, and then later gone for it. Either one happens, there is no overtime. (Of course, I keep saying to myself - 4th and 26!)

Cycler 01-12-2004 07:02 AM

And it is done. Bad way to end a good year of football. I thought they were going to go all the way. I thought Farve really had it going.

filtherton 01-12-2004 09:02 AM

So much for the "destiny" of the green bay packers. The only reason the packers got to the playoffs is the fact that the vikings are "destined" to always let down their fans in the most dramatic way possible. Farve can be amazing, but he can also be an old cade mcnown. How many 5 interception games has he had in the past two seasons? How many four interception games?

gibingus 01-12-2004 09:51 AM

there is only one team in the NFL that can beat the pack, and that's the pack themselves.

although brett gets the goat award for chucking up that final pass (and no, i don't think he was trying to hit javon walker, i think he was trying to put the ball out of play by overthrowing the field), the play calling was the worst. the pack fucked up two field goal opportunities that would have decided the game once and for all before OT looked possible.

also, joe buck and troy aikman should pull their pants up and stop jerking each other off in the booth and pay attention to the game... the goal line stand where ahman green missed the endzone was due to a very successful eagles dline stunt that closed the inside gap between the guard/tackle... green was clearly looking to penetrate behind probowl guard marco rivera. the field was so short that green couldn't adjust to get to the off tackle hole. but they should have kicked it anyway. sherman's play calling was only worse on those 3rd and short situations where he tried to pull cute passes instead of going to the screen or just punching it up the weakside.

but there is NO excuse for blowing that 4th and 26th. un-be-fucking-lievable. i can think of a couple of safeties who need to start looking for new jobs.

gibingus 01-12-2004 10:01 AM

oh yeah, and what packers thread would this be if no one stated:

the vikings are carpet munchers. grow some balls, get off the turf and play outside like real men, you purple pansies!

Plan9Senior 01-12-2004 11:06 AM

They deserved to lose the way they let Philly drive down that field. Its hard not to like Green Bay, but be honest with yourself... they were lucky to even get as far as they did. Favre should retire though on a semi good note instead of trying to milk one more year and end on a bad note *cough* Gannon *cough*.
