Nebraska finds a coach!
 

Bill Callahan is it I hear.

Press conferance later today.

How much success do you think Callahan is going to have? It could be tough trying to install a west coast offense with the players that they have right now. Nebraska has been run and option- oriented for quite a while.

The one advantage he has is his NFL ties. Players ultimately want to play on Sundays he has that connection. Pete Caroll and Dennis Erickson are/were successful coaches coming from the pros to the college ranks. It is a good hire IMHO but Nebraska won't return to the glory years of Osborne. Oklahoma, Texas and K-State are going to be the powers of the Big 12, not Nebraska, for the next few years.

I don't think Callahan will be tweaking the offense much... if the Raiders veterans couldn't understand his new schemes I doubt the 'Huskers can.

It is a very weird fit to me. I hope it works out because I think Callahan got hosed in Oakland.

I'm betting Nebraska will be looking for a new coach in 3 to 4 years. It just doesn't seem like a good fit to me.

I'm from Arkansas, and they apparently offered our Houston Nutt $2 million to coach there. He didn't take it of course. Loyalty and job security are important motivations. Would you want a job where you could get fired for going 8-4? I sure wouldn't.

actually, nutt used this oppurtunity to renegotiate his arkansas contract.

Word, and calahan probably wont have to much trouble winning because no team in the big 12, kansas state and OU included play any damn defense.
