This just in... Hasselbeck sticks foot in mouth

I think its great, in case you didnt hear he announced over the refs mic that they want the ball first in overtime so they can score.:D

Strange Famous 01-04-2004 01:37 PM

It's starting to look like Favre is playing with destiny on his side...

It's like 2002 when the Pats just seemed to have so much momentum behind them

redneckdude 01-04-2004 01:56 PM

If you hear nothing else about the game, Hassellbecks camment will become quite famous.

silent_jay 01-04-2004 04:48 PM

why oh why say that winning is never guaranteed

Hrothgar 01-04-2004 05:08 PM

I think the Eagles will quiet all this Packer destiny nonsense.

ya i agree with hrothgar, the eagles will quickly shutdown all this nonsense destiny bs. eagles are a better all around team and phily is the hardest place to play in the nfl and emotions can only get you so far. it is gonna be eagles vs colts in the superbowl.

BigGov 01-04-2004 11:26 PM

Defense wins championships, and the Eagles are vastly superior on that side of the ball compared to the Packers.

This will likely be the year for the Eagles considering that this year the Rams will have to go to Philly and play in the cold on natural grass. Two huge minuses for the greatest show on turf.

redneckdude 01-05-2004 01:11 AM

Well I agree with the destiny stuff. I do think that Philly may be in for a surprise, but as I have watched the Packers all season they have been way to sporatic to go very far in the post-season and only got into the playoffs do to a fluke by Az, which is how Philly beat the Pack in the regular season.

laconic1 01-05-2004 08:51 AM

I think the Packers are going to be tough for the Eagles to beat. Of course I also thought Denver was going to beat Indy in a close game yesterday, so that shows how much I know. I did laugh though when Hasselbeck threw that pick.

Begora21 01-05-2004 11:34 AM

yeah but it was pretty cool/funny

dragon2fire 01-05-2004 12:00 PM

what a game

i mean really

the comeback by the back

a over time finish

classic

archer2371 01-05-2004 03:23 PM

Philly cannot stop the run. Period. The Eagles must improve this area, or they will wind up going home from the playoffs again for the 3rd straight time.

Shpoop 01-05-2004 03:54 PM

i hate it when people say "___ is the hardest place to play in the nfl" ive heard that said about probably every stadium... and yes i was quite pleased hasslebeck got his head pulled out of his ass

as for GB vs eagles...i think im gonna go GB... i donno why, i just kinda feel like they are going to win

Spartak 01-05-2004 05:23 PM

GB gifted the Seahawks too much points/yardage (the same Seahawks who are 1-7 on the road, and score something like 10 points per road game). Then were very lucky to win in OT.

The Eagles will maul them.

Ah thank you, I don't have to say it. Green ran for what? 190 yards the first time these teams met? And Favre is much hotter now than he was then. I hate the Packers(Bears fan) but this will not be a blowout for Philly by a long shot.

SpikeQX99 01-05-2004 07:40 PM

Being from the Seattle area, I'm not the biggest SeaHawks fan out there, but it's nice to see them start winning again, but I thought that Hasselbeck's comments were good for a relatively inexperienced playoff team. He's a team captain, and it's his job to motivate the troops, and I thought he did that pretty well. Interceptions happen, it's the nature of a game like that, someone was gonna screw up and it was gonna cost whoever that was the game.

And all this Brett Favre crap. It reminds me of the last time that the 'Hawks were in the playoffs against Miami in 99, Dan Marino's last season. Seattle played a decent game and all the announcers could talk about was "Dan Marino this, Dan Marino that" Everyone I think was like yeah, that's Marino, but there's another team on the field. Same with Favre this weekend. Unbiased announcing? Doubtful.....

Oh well, Indy is gonna clean up I think.

Just my rant. Sorry for the length

Blu2e354 01-05-2004 09:36 PM

Peyton was on fire last weekend showing hi smvp status. Gb is taking the eagles because their defense is plaing good enough and green is going to run all over them.

That title EASILY went to the Vet. The field was basically concrete and green paper over it. The field was absolutely horrid and had certain nuances that you pick up if you play there say 8 times a year.

That sounds like it makes sense, but far from it.

The Eagles have one of the best secondaries in the NFL. If any team needs to pass the countless blitzes by Jim Johnson leave quarterbacks on their back and wondering where exactly the hit came from.

Also, the Eagles allowed 7 100 yard rushers this year. They were 6-1 in those games.

Let Green run all over them, it still won't matter.

Strange Famous 01-06-2004 03:18 PM

"Destiny" may be BS

Momentum isnt

A team that is winning most of the time keeps winning

Ah, but the team with the most rushing attempts wins 87% of the time, and the team with the more rushing yards winning percentage is even higher than that. If you can't stop the run, you can't stop the play action pass, you can't stop the PA Pass, then you is done my friend.

thespian86 01-08-2004 09:17 AM

Acher is a fricking genuis man, you guys think that green will run all over them and they can still make the win come out of thier asses? NO WAY!

Honestly I am a GB fan but I think that Philly has a great chance to win if they can stop the unstopable Green run/Favre PA bomb.

I also think that Mcnab is a great QB and he has people like Thrash, Pinkston and Westbrook/Staley to pass to. But after watching my secondary at work since they played the eagles last i must say that Sharper, Mike m. and Al Haris are super speedy, even more then the quick HB and WR combination that Philly has.

Thats all i have to say

thespian86 01-08-2004 09:18 AM

sorry about miss spelling your name Archer. sorry pal

dragon2fire 01-08-2004 11:45 AM

Hell, you could call me whatever you want as long as you keep up that frickin genius stuff! :D *feels head ominously getting bigger* It's just simple football stuff that is done, and the run is the most important thing in winning football games, and Philly can't stop it. I don't think it'll be a blow-out, it'll be a tight game with GB taking the win with the ability to keep the ball in hand.

Hrothgar 01-08-2004 08:36 PM

I'm glad Hasselbeck said what he did. It showed he has confidence in his team. Ok it didn't work out but you want a confident QB that your busting your ass for. It showed me he is a gamer and was excited to be there.

dragon2fire 01-09-2004 02:31 AM

yea hrothgar i agree

if your looking for a leader for your team that is a good quality

bparker805 01-11-2004 02:46 PM

Im going to send Hasselbeck an FTD flower arrangement for taking the heat off of my boy, Joe "cell phone" Horn!

ToiletDuck 01-11-2004 05:13 PM

Well Farve ended the packers chances, But i belive that i watched the SB champs play today when they beat the Chiefs.
