I still go back to the Bruins of the late 80's for my favorite tough guys: Lyndon Byers, Willie Plett, and Lyndon Byers.

Overall, though, I'd have to label Dave "Tiger" Williams as the best. Bob Probert is a close second. Tie Domi is third.

Toughest ever? That's truely tough. Gordie Howe was known for his stick handling, and his fistacuffs, never backed down. Bob Probert was a great fighter/intimidator, only in his coke years. Domi is a bad ass at 5'5", but not the toughest.

I'll keep thinking about this...

i was at the game Johnathan rearranged Bouchard's face in the playoffs years ago - he pummeled him so hard he broke his hand and switched to the other - created a new face off circle - it was AWESOME!!!

i'd have to say Terry O'Riley, Tiger Williams, Bobby Clark (aka Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Clark), and Dave "the hammer" Schultz...
Cam Neeley is no slouch either - went to the game when he and Ulfie met for the last time - now THAT was a fight - both thrown out in the first minute!!!

Gordie Howe would have cleaned their clocks... every one of 'em... then scored the game winning goal!

I'm only a casual hockey fan and don't know much about anyone that played before about 1993--but I've always thought Tie Domi was a super-thug.

Ulf Samuelson may not have been the toughest ever, but he was plenty tough. Kept other teams from beating up on Lemieux and Jagr.

Ulf Samuelson this thing is going down the crapper, if i wanted the best chickenshit of all time we have a winner in Ulf. he couldn't keep Cam Neely from kicking the shit out of him how was he supposed to protect Mario and Jagar? have you people ever played the game, do you at least watch it? what happened to the people who posted who actually knew tough guys.
