Who Is Best Tough Guy In NHL History?
Who do you think is the best tough guy in NHL history?
for me Stan Johnathon or John Wiensienk |
I still go back to the Bruins of the late 80's for my favorite tough guys: Lyndon Byers, Willie Plett, and Lyndon Byers.
Overall, though, I'd have to label Dave "Tiger" Williams as the best. Bob Probert is a close second. Tie Domi is third. |
Toughest ever? That's truely tough. Gordie Howe was known for his stick handling, and his fistacuffs, never backed down. Bob Probert was a great fighter/intimidator, only in his coke years. Domi is a bad ass at 5'5", but not the toughest.
I'll keep thinking about this... |
i was at the game Johnathan rearranged Bouchard's face in the playoffs years ago - he pummeled him so hard he broke his hand and switched to the other - created a new face off circle - it was AWESOME!!!
i'd have to say Terry O'Riley, Tiger Williams, Bobby Clark (aka Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Clark), and Dave "the hammer" Schultz... Cam Neeley is no slouch either - went to the game when he and Ulfie met for the last time - now THAT was a fight - both thrown out in the first minute!!!:D all time penalty leaders... 1st 3,966 Dave Williams 14 seasons 2nd 3,565 Dale Hunter 20 seasons 3rd 3,381 Marty McSorley 17 seasons 4th 3,300 Bob Probert 16 seasons 5th 3,265 Tie Domi 15 seasons 6th 3,193 Rob Ray 14 seasons 7th 3,149 Craig Berube 17 seasons 8th 3,146 Tim Hunter 17 seasons 9th 3,043 Chris Nilan 13 seasons 10th 2,972 Rick Tocchet 18 seasons |
Gordie Howe would have cleaned their clocks... every one of 'em... then scored the game winning goal!
|
Playing now:
Tie Domi-no contest Sandy McCarthy-when he was still plaiyng for Calgary.... oh the memories. Then: Gordie Howe-Best that ever played period, and best all around player. Hard nosed and scored goals. Nothing better than that. Dave Williams-All time Badass. No one will ever be compared to him. |
Any goalie who played without a mask.
|
|
dale hunter. no question.
|
forgot about the goalies without the masks, good point Serpent
|

yup...........the gordie howe hat trick score a goal... assist on a goal... then beat the piss outta the other teams tough guy... gordie is the shit |
howe was all elbows, a tough man yes but the toughest ever?
|
I'm only a casual hockey fan and don't know much about anyone that played before about 1993--but I've always thought Tie Domi was a super-thug.
|
Unfortunetly I have a problem ith tought guys near the end of there careers that decide there good players (mcarthy, domi, etc)
Pure fighter, possibly probert, all around Mr. Howe himself (and maby his protoge Mr. Iginla) |
1.Gordie Howe
2.John Ferguson 3. Bobby Orr all pretty fair hockey players too. No Doug Doulls here. |

do you actually watch hockey domi still fights, and if you consider Sandy Mcarthy a good player i have some swampland in jersey to sell you. Jerome Iginla tough please the goddamned kid still wears a visor who has he fought Pavel Bure maybe give me a break. watch the game sometime it's pretty good. |
Ulf Samuelson may not have been the toughest ever, but he was plenty tough. Kept other teams from beating up on Lemieux and Jagr.
|
Ulf Samuelson this thing is going down the crapper, if i wanted the best chickenshit of all time we have a winner in Ulf. he couldn't keep Cam Neely from kicking the shit out of him how was he supposed to protect Mario and Jagar? have you people ever played the game, do you at least watch it? what happened to the people who posted who actually knew tough guys.
|
I think you are all forgetting about one of the top hockey bad asses of all time, Tony Twist
|
I love Tony Twist and yes i did forget about him thanks for reminding me. now a real tough guy we're back on track
|
anymore toughguys
