WHAT WHAT WHAAAAAAAAT!?!?

have you been WATCHING the canucks games lately? Sopel is the only defenseman that is playing worth his snot lately

Sopel may be uglier than Jabba the Hutt, but he is playing some damn fine defense right now

Cooke is the Defenseman for the 'nucks that is dropping the ball (puck?) right now in my opinion

Kidding aside, I do give St. Louis a lot of respect. A lot has been said about the Detroit/Colorado rivalry, but those years have past.

The best games in the past few years have ALWAYS been against the Blues. The addition of Osgood helped strengthen that. Chris was and is a good goalie and he has a score to settle with the Wings.

I think we will see a great series again this year between the Blues and Wings in the playoffs. The Western Conference series have always been better than the Eastern Conference ones.

I wouldn't doubt at all that Detroit and St. Louis meet up for the finals.

But Detroit WILL end up in the Cup finals.

Ace_O_Spades 01-21-2004 06:31 PM

You're ignoring Colorado and Vancouver

both teams who have the ability if properly motivated

the western confrence is a force this year

is Matt Cooke not a left winger? I'm pretty sure he is.

The Leafs are going to win the cup this year anyways.

Ace_O_Spades 01-22-2004 12:17 AM

sorry my bad, i get him and salo mixed up all the time

i am ashamed :(

but seriously, the 'nucks defense is lacking in being able to keep people out of cloutier's face

and im not going to get into a bickering competition, but the leafs arent winning the cup

stickyrice 01-22-2004 01:45 AM

wahahaha no worries. but what do you think of sopel? And I agree that Salo has been playing very consistent this season.

Cooke has been injured for quite a while and he is actually a left winger.

Vancouver's solid, but Colorado's stronger, especially if Forsberg can stay healthy. That, and Selanne really oughta step up and start scoring some goals.

exponent_doobie 01-25-2004 01:41 PM

Colorado should really be owning every team in the league but in the play-offs anything can happen... Fuck the Minnesota Wild! :(

Tempboy 01-25-2004 03:29 PM

I'm wondering how the goaltending's going to turn out in the playoffs.. especially for the Northwest Division.

Everybody has questionable playoff goaltending.
Aebisher - First playoffs as a starter
Cloutier - Mr. Choke
Salo - Sucking it up this year
Turek - Defines inconsistency

I think Minnesota has the best goaltending situation going into the playoffs (assuming all the northwest teams make it in, which they won't)

Ace_O_Spades 01-25-2004 04:08 PM

I think if cloutier operates in a vaccum for the playoffs, not letting any of it get to his head, then he can break the mold of him as being a choker

but i doubt it

FleaCircus 01-25-2004 05:33 PM

As an Avs fan, I'm a lot less worried about Aebischer in the postseason than Sauve in the regular season. He's been winning, but he's been shaky. If he can't be relied on down the stretch and Aebsicher plays too many games, he'll be worn out by the time the playoffs hit.

Ace_O_Spades 01-25-2004 09:09 PM

I just had to reiterate how the aforementioned sopel bashing is uncalled for

he's got two goals and an assist so far in the game right now.

4-0 nucks right now

silent_jay 01-25-2004 09:17 PM

I thought Sopel was playing great i mean what did people expect from the guy, everyone goes through slumps. How long has hockey been around and people still don't realize this.

exponent_doobie 01-25-2004 09:57 PM

Everyone gives him hell because no one can get the shiny silky long hair like his. :)

we have nicknamed him "the ugliest hero"

silent_jay 01-25-2004 10:50 PM

I'm sure Sopel doesn't care what is said about him because good or bad he still gets paid, oh darn bench me i still get paid

Im pretty sure NO hockey player says "oh darn bench me i still get paid"... if they do they wont be with that club for very long

but i catch your underlying meaning in the post.

Oh no, Mike Ricci is by far the UGliest man, yes with a capital UG, in the NHL. Sopel has been officially renamed The Little Rat Boy That Could.

Ace_O_Spades 01-26-2004 10:34 AM

Ugh especially during last years playoffs... that scraggly beard and long gross hair made it so much worse

Oh hell ya, this is Vancouver's year.

Tempboy 01-28-2004 03:41 AM

I probably wouldn't dispute that if not for Dan "Choke" Cloutier.

I've known players in the minors who havw said this. I know it makes no sense for them to say this. I'm glad you caught the underlying meaning.

canucks all the way.

Nikilidstrom 01-29-2004 09:00 AM

Don't hold back, tell us what you really think :)

Ace_O_Spades 01-29-2004 01:42 PM

I think dan could take you... although i dont know what im basing that on hahaha

[edit]

oh yeah, because bertuzzi would have his back

Tempboy 01-29-2004 03:41 PM

I'm just hoping my Flames make it in, and make a splash. :)

bigbad 01-31-2004 02:57 AM

I wanna see Cloutier for Kolzig by the trade deadline, or else...

Bigt6909 02-04-2004 06:08 PM

the wings should be a little higher than that... c'mon seriously

soccerchamp76 02-04-2004 07:22 PM

Well my Blues have done everything except win in the past month. This blows so goddamn much, watching them lose game after game after game, even after building a decent lead.

Nikilidstrom 02-04-2004 07:25 PM

The Wings haven't been very crisp either of late. Although they did destroy New Jersey with Brodeur in net, which is more than enough to hold me over until they get their shit together again.

silent_jay 02-05-2004 08:03 PM

holy shit the sens blew the lead my god do they ever suck i love it when they lose. does sens management know what a tough guy looks like chris neil and todd simpson horrible.

GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ace_O_Spades 02-05-2004 08:07 PM

Wow, the canucks laid the lumber to the devils tonight, good job nucks

stickyrice 02-05-2004 11:17 PM

yeah the sedins looked awesome tonight

good game between leafs and sens. half the sens team was suffering from the flu too.

Tempboy 02-06-2004 04:26 AM

I eagerly await the day when the leafs all collapse from exhaustion and head off to the retirement home.

silent_jay 02-06-2004 05:07 AM

won't happen before the wings. half the sens were sick everey team in the league is missing players on a night to night basis.

Serpent 02-06-2004 09:52 AM

I'll laugh my head off if the wild make a streak for the playoffs after the all star break and beat vancouver again int eh playoffs. (if you don't think minnesota can do it again you shouldn't be watching hockey, they have already started..)

stickyrice 02-06-2004 11:50 AM

ugh that series against the wild made me sick especially game 7. The wild got so much puck luck that it wasn't even funny. The only goal i can fault Cloutier that game was the 3rd one.

oh yeah and the only reason why I cheer for the wild is Richard Park. ahhahahaha

Ace_O_Spades 02-06-2004 02:21 PM

I dont see the canucks slowing down at all, they are primed and ready to take control of their conference AND the league, within one game... but you never know... more farked things have happened

silent_jay 02-06-2004 02:49 PM

any team can become hot or cold at any time that is the great thing about hockey and all team sports.

FleaCircus 02-08-2004 06:17 PM

NHL All-Star Game:
East 6, West 4
MVP -- Joe Sakic, Colorado Avalanche

Young Stars Game:
West 7, East 3
MVP -- Phillipe Sauve, Colorado Avalanche

I'm an Avs fan; can you see me smiling?
