Oklahoma vs a NFL Team
A friend of mine and I were discussing how the Sooners would do against a NFL team. I say that even the worst NFL team is as good as a college all star team and that there is no way that Oklahoma would beat them. Oklahoma is good, but not that good. What do you guys think?
|
I hear this all the time. The sad thing is that I often hear it out of college football announcers - people who should know better.
The worst team in the NFL would kick the living daylights out of the best team in college football. Why? The battle up front would be won easily on both sides of the ball. Oklahoma's O-line is not gonna contain a D-line of professionals, nor is their D-line going to do anything but become pancake batter. Let alone that the college teams can't match up skill players. Forget it, its a silly arguement, no team in college football could hang with any NFL team. |
OU is losing 21-7, so let stop the heavenly comparisons!

There's no way that any college team can stand up to even the worst of pro teams. There are just too many differences in the games they play and the way they play them.
|
The worst NFL team is as good as a college all star team because, if you look at it, they ARE college all-star teams.

but remember, coaching does matter. I for one believe that coach stoops is better that 1/4th the nfl coaches. so OU does have a chance.

The sooners lost to Kansas State today. Do you all think it was a fluke?
|
Funny this question came up. I was thinking the same thing while listening to the announcers hype OU before the game. I'm afraid though, after seeing what #15 K-State did to them, if they picked on an NFL team, the final might be 135-7.

Forget coaching. Coaching can do a lot, but only so much. 18-22 year old men simply CANNOT compete physically against grown, fully mature 25-30 year old men. At most, 5 or 6 of Oklahoma's players will sniff NFL success. It's unlikely any will be stars, and at best, they will be decent players. Maybe one will turn out to be really good. Maybe. Also, you have to keep in mind that every player in the NFL was a great college player. They were great in college, and with the years they've had of playing in the pros, Oklahoma wouldn't match up. Then that doesn't even take into account the fact that pro teams use 10x more complicated schemes and plays. The all America team could not beat the backups from any team. |
an easy way to do this? using madden 2004 and NCAA 2004, convert your very best college franchise, and draft them all into a constructed franchise team into madden and play the arizona cardinals. you would essentially have a team of rookies, rated in the upper 80's playing a NFL team rated in the lower 60's...cards still STOMP the rookie team. even friggin video games know the answer to this question.

NFL is bred with talent no college team would ever win
