Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl!?!?
I think this sucks.... but then again.... i would LOVE to watch OU destroy Ohio State.... I really think USC deserves the chance....
it really doesnt matter though, OU looks unstoppable... But i will be rooting for Michigan to finally knock of Ohio State.... |
Michigan will the fuck the hell out of Ohio State. No fuckin way in fuckin hell is ohio state going to get past michigan in anne harbor.
I predict a BLOW-OUT |
Why wouldn't Ohio State get the chance to play in the Sugar if they defeat Michigan? Ohio State should get some credit for playing a tough schedule while USC beats up on the Arizona's of the world.
If all else is equal (one loss apiece), shouldn't the team with the most impressive victories (best schedule strength) get the nod? |

Wow, Dude instead of me getting mad and yelling at you, I want you to do alittle homework. You said the bucks are going to get "blown-out" Well to me that means a loss of at least 3 tds. So I would like you to find out when was the last time OSU was beat by at least 21 points. I am sure this may take some time, I mean its not like you can look this year and find a 65-13 loss.

Sat, Aug 30 Washington W 28-9 --
Sat, Sep 6 San Diego State W 16-13 -- 3 pts Sat, Sep 13 North Carolina State W 44-38 -- 6 pts Sat, Sep 20 (22) Bowling Green W 24-17 -- 7 pts Sat, Sep 27 Northwestern W 20-0 -- Sat, Oct 11 at Wisconsin L 10-17 -- Loss Sat, Oct 18 (17) Iowa W 19-10 -- 9 pts Sat, Oct 25 at Indiana W 35-6 -- Sat, Nov 1 at Penn State W 21-20 -- 1 pt Sat, Nov 8 Michigan State W 33-23 -- 10 pts Sat, Nov 15 (16) Purdue W 16-13 -- 3 pts and michigan will be the best team that they will play this season. Ohio state offense is 102th in the nation, with 348 yards/game. they do have the 8th best defense in the nation though. you have to put up some points to beat michigan @ michgan. ---------------- I admit that i have been predicting losses to ohio state against every decent team that they have played, and i have been wrong most of the time. i have a gut feeling for this game though. and no, nobody can match 63-13 (well, wait a&m can 77-0) |
I'll give OSU credit for that... they are always in the game... but really, theyve been VERY VERY fortunate the last couple of years.... man, things have luckily and mystically gone there way.... lady luck is definitly on there side
with that said, if they win out, then they deserve to be there.... so we will see... |
All teams use luck.
No one goes to the championship game without any, except for maybe OU this year, because they're raping the shit out of everyone. |
no team... not even Oklahoma... will blow out the Buckeyes! their defense is simply too good for that to happen.
I do think Michigan will win, but it will be close! |
yea but... OSU.... luck is an understatement... i mean how many games have they come back to win, or barely pulled off at the end of the game, the last couple of years....
they won, so they deserve it... but damn.... just there luck |

Let's look at the non-conference schedules. For OSU, it was Washington, San Diego State, North Carolina State, and Bowling Green. For USC, it was Auburn, Hawaii, BYU, and Notre Dame. They're fairly comparable. OSU is soooo lucky too that Bowling Green is ranked this year. No matter how we dissect this, it just is more evidence that we NEED a friggin playoff system, NOW. |
In U$C's defense, the best team they played this team was Cal, and the best team Ohio State played this year was Wisconsin...
|
Sorry, got to do this...
Go Bucks. Now that I got that out of my system, it's going to be a close game up north this weekend. Don't count the bucks out yet. They have a very good D, and the offence moves the ball just enough. Tressel is not the type of coach to blow any team out, and likes to keep the games close. Although, my blood pressure couldn't take this last game against PU. |
I'm going to say it too... Go Bucks!
Until Coach Tressel loses a Michigan game, I'm betting on him. I think he has the Wolverines right where he wants them. Still I have a hard time believing this team, with no real offense, can win its way through a Mich St/Purdue/Mich finish. That would be something. One additional point. The Buckeye loss to Wisconsin was in Madison on a cold Saturday night in a pouring rain storm. Perfect weather for an upset. It's going to be fun on Saturday. Thanks for listening. |
if they beat michagian they desever to go to the suguar bowl
you beat 7 ranked oppents over the corse of the year you should play in the championship game |

If Michigan beats Ohio State, I'll argue for USC to play in the big game instead of LSU for the same reason. I just don't like it when Kansas State plays noone yet is rewarded year after year. If you look at KSU in the polls, they are a top twenty team. But they have lost three and have played noone. I don't like rewarding teams that schedule weakly over those who have played tougher opponents. I'd never rank KSU above other three loss programs like Iowa, etc. |
Ohio State should be there if they beat Michigan. It doesn't matter who plays OU. Both teams have weaknesses that OU will exploit.
|
31-10 Michigan.
But if by chance OSU beats Michigan at the Big House...they definitely deserve the right to defend their championship. Art |
regarding OSU's tremendous "luck":
luck schmuck. "I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have." - Thomas Jefferson "Luck is the residue of design." - Branch Rickey "We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like?" -Jean Cocteau "All of us have bad luck and good luck. The man who persists through the bad luck -- who keeps right on going -- is the man who is there when the good luck comes -- and is ready to receive it." - Robert Collier "A pound of pluck is worth a ton of luck." - James A. Garfield "Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more you sweat, the luckier you get." - Ray Kroc "I believe in luck. The harder I work the luckier I get." - Sam Shoen "I've found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often." - Brian Tracy "Success is just a matter of luck, all you need to do is ask a failure. History may be written by academics but it's rarely created by them." - Source Unknown "Luck? I don't know anything about luck. I've never banked on it, and I'm afraid of people who do. Luck to me is something else: hard work -- and realizing what is opportunity and what isn't." - Lucille Ball "Luck marches with those who give their very best." - H. Jackson Brown Jr. "There is no such thing as luck. It's a fancy name for being always at our duty, and so sure to be ready when good time comes." - Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton "What helps luck is a habit of watching for opportunities, of having a patient but restless mind, of sacrificing one's ease or vanity, or uniting a love of detail to foresight, and of passing through hard times bravely and cheerfully." - Victor Cherbuliez "Luck, bad if not good, will always be with us. But it has a way of favoring the intelligent and showing its back to the stupid." - John Dewey "Shallow people believe in luck and in circumstances; Strong people believe in cause and effect." - Ralph Waldo Emerson "Someone receives a promotion, gets an important assignment, makes a major discovery, or moves into the president's office. ''He's lucky,'' an envious person remarks. ''He gets the breaks; they're always in his favor.'' In reality, luck or the breaks of life had little or nothing to do with it. So-called ''luck'' usually is found at the exact point where preparation meets opportunity. For a time, an individual may get ahead by ''pull,'' but eventually someone with push will displace him. Success is not due to a fortuitous concourse of stars at our birth, but to a steady trail of sparks from the grindstone of hard work each day." - Kenneth Hildebrand "People who have attained things worth having in this world have worked while others have idled, have persevered while others gave up in despair, and have practiced early in life the valuable habits of self-denial, industry, and singleness of purpose. As a result, they enjoy in later life the success often erroneously attributed to good luck." - Grenville Kleiser "Good luck is the willing handmaid of a upright and energetic character, and conscientious observance of duty." - James Russell Lowell "Good luck is a lazy man's estimate of a worker's success." - Source Unknown "Luck always seems to be against the man who depends on it." - Source Unknown "Luck? Ain't no such animal." -Sion |
I'm definitely rooting for the Buckeyes this weekend.
as for "luck"... hey, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while! of course, it was probably a very hard working... albeit blind... squirrel, right?!? ;) |

By the way, here's the link for the strength of schedule stats http://www.phys.utk.edu/sorensen/cfr..._Schedule.html |
$C.. was supposed to win out. For some reason the Cal Bears just like to bitch them around every year. What has OSU beat, but 7 ranked teams. #10 last week. If they beat #5, I guess they deserve to go Sugar Bowling. If not, I'll happily watch $C represent the Pac-10.
What are they supposed to do to improve strength of schedule? Well, they're supposed to schedule a tougher Non-Conference schedule. As for those you you bagging on K-State--2 of their losses came without Roberson, so I'd argue that healthy as they are now, they deserve to be ranked, for they'd beat most teams ranked above them. |
I don't buy this whole "tressel is in Michigans head" ?? Can somebody explain this to me?? OSU is THE most overrated team in the top 10 and anyone who has watched their games knows this. Tressel wants to keep the games close??? Are you kidding me or is this how your defend your lame offense? You don't think Tressel wants a touchdown every time he gets the ball? Michigan will win this game, sure it might be close, but OSU will be exposed this weekend and should get a nice spot in the Outback Bowl!
GO BLUE!!! |

Ohio State has faced seven ranked teams this year, while USC has faced a Pac-10 filled with disappointments (Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, etc.) Again, I'm not saying its fair or that anyone can actually DO anything about it. But the fact remains Ohio State has played superior opponents, and should get credit for toughter victories. For the record, I think USC got a lot of credit for the schedule they played last year. Even with two defeats, they played in the BCS. |
They've won so many games this way guys. After a while (18 or so games they've been winning like this?), you certainly have to wonder if maybe it's just a game strategy to run a conservative offense to avoid turnovers and take advantage of your opponents, rather then risk the long passes and such of a west coast offense.
Noone's that lucky, and against the teams they're playing? No way, I don't buy the luck thing for a second. Chalk it up to the defense and Tressel. |
yeap, michigan just beat the fuck out of ohio state. the score doesnt reflect how one sided this game was.

I thought the game was close - Ohio State was within a touchdown for alot of the second half. Something tells me The Dude has external motivation for wanting Ohio State to lose. Wonder what that would be? :D Anyhow, Michigan turned the ball over once, Ohio State once late. It was a well played game. The difference was, in my opinion, Chris Perry. Perry was very effective despite getting banged up several times throughout. That sends Michigan to the Rose Bowl - where they will meet one of several contenders - perhaps Washington State or Texas. |

Come on Texas...dont lose to A&M..hehe

EDIT: This puts USC in the drivers seat for the Sugar Bowl. I will consider them the deserving candidate unless their SOS falls below LSU's. |

If you talk to an aggie, they will tell you how good they will be next year cuz of their redshirts ;). Its always a good laugh talking to an aggie. ---------- Looks like it'll be OU vs USC in the national championship game and USC will get blown out (as u can see i dont use the term "blown out" sparingly). |
I'm going to have to agree with the Dude on this one. The score was closer than the game was. It would have easily been 35-7 in the third quarterbut OSU got lucky and it was called back due to a penalty. Michigan was a far better team.
Now, about the BCS, the studio was talking about Michigan jumping over Texas in the BCS standings. If LSU got beat, then Michigan would play in the sugar bowl against Oklahoma (assuming they win out). That would suck! |
I thought last week you guys were going to stomp TT and be no worries..missed xp and FG cost them the game.
Mack needs this win...he loses here and who knows what happens in the off season. Art |
if LSU wins the SEC title game, they will be in the Sugar Bowl.

I am looking toward a Texas Ohio state matchup in the fiesta bowl. OU vs LSU in sugar and Michigan vs USC in Rose. Sounds like three really good games!
|
Oh man, what a game, go blue baby no sugar bowl for the Luckeyes!! Good run OSU, you made the big ten proud last year but don't ever forget who the kings of the Big 10 are!!!!
