Soccer Questions
What is the UEFA Cup? Is it the finale to the Champions League or is it just a Premiership competition? How does a team qualify for the Champions League? My soccer knowledge is rudimentary and I desperately trying to expand it. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The UEFA Cup is basically the cup for all the teams that didn't make it into the Champions League.
To get into the Champions League automatically you have to win your domestic league, this however only applies to the leagues that UEFA deems strong enough. Or you can get a certain place in your domestic league, but that usually means a playoff match with another team in the same situation. As I saide the UEFA Cup is for the teams that don't make it into the champs league. and it's a series of 2-leg (home and away) knockout matches, starting with a huge field that is eventually reduced down to 2 teams, who then play each other in a winner-takes-all game.
