OK, so I would like to know who you think should go to the sugar bowl if both OU and Miami loose this weekend? Will they be able to withstand the late season loss? If a team like Florida St wins out and Miami looses one, which team should go. What if a team like Ohio st that has 3 top 20 opponents left wins out, should they go? Georgia doesn't look too solid. Washington St and USC have to knock one or the other out. So tell me what you all want to see. I would like to see everyone with one loss so everyone is pissed at the BCS, hey maybe we could get that playoff after all.

I think the operative word in the above statement is IF! If grasshoppers carried 45's birds wouldn't fuck with them.

Yeah I think we should wait until some of these thing shake out.
then we can all play "what if" for a long time. or until the NCAA develops a real playoff system.

i don't think a real playoff system will happen within the next 20 years, but we can all dream can't we? :)

Even if all the teams have 1 loss, the BCS takes into account who beat who, who had harder schedule, what the polls thought etc...giving the teams a more or less "fair" scale.

I don't know why a lot of people hate the BCS it's the most fair thing that will happen other than playoffs and when that happens instead of complaining about who goes to the NC it will be about why one team made it instead of the other...

Using Colley Rankings "Add/Remove Games" function and have Oklahoma State beat Oklahoma, Virginia Tech beat Miami, Ohio State beat Penn St, Georgia beat Florida, and Florida State beat Norte Dame, I got backUsing Southern Cal beating Washington St instead of Florida St beating Norte Dame, I got:At least in Colley, Oklahoma is still #1 even with losing on Saturday to Oklahoma State. Will the other computer ranksters do the same? The human pollsters won't, but Oklahoma losing to Oklahoma State is a much better loss than Miami losing to Virginia Tech would be.

Oklahoma won't fall out of the top 5 with a loss. Miami will. Have Florida upset Georgia and Washington State upset Southern Cal, and OU is still BCS #2, with Oklahoma State in the top 5.

Damn good weekend coming up. Too bad I'm working most of it.

Anyway, I think a bowl playoff might be kind of cool, but we'll have to see.

It doesnt matter who it benfits, and who it doesn't. The system is crap, and it's proven itself, time and time again that it plain and simple, does not work. The computer might blow up if UO or Miami lose this weekend. However, UO with a loss oto OSU is still a BCS bowl gamer. Wierd, FSU would be #2 in the BCS with a Miami loss, but Miami kicked them around pretty good. Yet another wonderful fact about the BCS being a bunch of shit.

well, let's look at the results (for the 3 years since the Big 10 and Pac 10 joined the BCS)...

2000: Oklahoma (undefeated) vs. Florida State (one loss).
the debate: FSU, Miami, and Washington each had one loss. FSU lost to Miami, Miami lost to Washington.
the tie-breaker: Miami's game against division 1-AA McNeese State, which killed the 'Canes Strength-of-Schedule rating. Washington struggled (but won) against virtually everyone they played.
end result: Oklahoma beat FSU, and ended up as the only undefeated team.

2001: Miami (undefeated) vs. Nebraska (one loss).
the debate: Nebraska and Oregon each had one loss, Colorado had two losses. Nebraska lost decisively at Colorado and didn't even make the Big XII title game. Oregon lost at home to Stanford.
the tie-breaker: Nebraska's Strength-of-Schedule edged out Colorado. Oregon finished a distant 4th behind the 'Buffs.
end result: Miami beat the crap out of Nebraska, and ended up as the only undefeated team.

2002: Ohio State (undefeated) vs. Miami (undefeated).
no debate, no tie-breaker needed.
end result: Ohio State beat Miami, and ended up as the only undefeated team.


bottom line: in 3 out of 3 seasons, the BCS has worked!

did you know... even though Florida State is currently ranked ahead of Georgia, USC, and Ohio State... if all four teams win out... FSU will finish behind all of 'em!

Sorry but in 2001 they did not get it right. Nebraska had no business being in the final game.

There is a lot of football left and I really doubt there will be 2 undefeated teams. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a 2 loss team in the National Championship. This weekend will shake up the BCS a little. There are some good match ups with top 15 BCS teams facing each other.

Don't worry buckeye, your team doesn't have a chance, better start praying for roses instead of another national championship.

Here is something to think about. If Miami looses to VT who is rather low in the rankings right now. And when florida st lost to Miami, Miami was # 2 in the nation. So if you don't look at the teams themselves and just the losses what looks worse a loss to a #2 team or a loss to a #20 team. Floridast's loss is not as bad therefore should be ranked higher then miami if they loose. Even though Miami beat FSU. Compareing apples to oranges is what the computers do for us. But since the BCS has the added strength of schedule factor FSU won't be where they are now at the end of the season. Which makes things look good for Ohio st if they win out over 3 top 20 teams. plus the computers seem to like OSU. My prediction is Oklahoma vs. USC or OSU

Anyone other than Miami will make me happy!:)

I think the winners of each 4 BCS bowl should play in a mini playoff.

at the end, the BCS 1-8 teams play and get matched up in the bowls, then the 4 winners go to a playoff.

but that would never happen, cuz of too many games bieng played and sometimes a conference champ might not finish in the top 8 of the BCS.

oh well.

one thing that should be obvious is that a true division 1-A playoff is incompatible with the bowl system. this is why the success of the BCS is so important to college football as we know it.

think about it: what's wrong with a 2-team playoff? why do you want to cheapen the great rivalries, such as Ohio State-Michigan, Oklahoma-Texas, Miami-Florida State, etc.???

You need to remember that there are HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars in these bowls. Going through the process of creating a playoff system would be financial hell.

Well looks like the grasshopper got fucked this weekend. I knew Miami would loose. It just so nice to see what those crybabies are made of. I have never seen such adolecent pushing and shoving since gradeschool.

And STILL nobody has mentioned TCU. This is the year of the Mid-Majors and they're getting zero respect.

TCU didn't exactly have the toughest non-conference schedule. I'm all for the mid-majors getting respect, but TCU really doesn't deserve to be in the national championship discussion this year. If they get by Louisville and So. Miss, which I doubt they will, then they should play in a nice BCS bowl. That's all the school wants anyway.........the cash!!

no way they are not good enough to beat No illinois or Bowling green. TCU played nobody this year. its too bad they can't schedule harder games and all, but they do not deserve a BCS game unless they can go undefeated. Then whoever plays them will kill them in their bowl.
