This could really make things screwed up for the BCS.
VT loses to a team that Miami should have lost to and then VT beats Miami next week. Where does NIU fit in with no losses. USC has to play WSU and WSU cannot over look OSU this week. Ohio State finishes at home to MSU and Purdue and then comes to the big house. FSU has a good chance to finish with one loss. I think even if Miami loses to VT they will still be 2nd in the BCS. Purdue has to play at Mich and OSU. MSU has Mich at home but has OSU on the road the week right after Michigan. Georgia has best shot in the SEC but they are going to have a hard time only have 1 loss. I still think it will come down to Miami and OU with USC having a serious shot also. Art |

I have a feeling that the BCS committee will be praying very hard that Oklahoma and Miami win out so that they can claim that the BCS system "works". I found it so shady last year when they kept congratulating themselves and being self-righteous by saying that the system worked. Rejoice! Well, it just so happened that there were 2 unbeatens. If it's any other year, you're screwed.
Oh, and can someone who watched the game comment on what went wrong for VT? I was away for the night and only caught the last few minutes as I was stunned by the score... |

I watched a bit of the game and bascially, West Virginia dominated on both sides of the ball. On offense, they ran all over VT. On defense, they penetrated the line and never let VT get anything going. VT's only score was scored by the defense.
I was very unimpressed with VT. I dont know much about WV, but they did almost beat Miami. It sounds like they really get up for the big games. That is a sign of a good coach / motivator. Also, as far as I know, they didn't tear down the goalposts. That was rather classy in my opinion. They rushed the field, but didn't damage anything. Kind of nice considering everything else that usually happens. |

That was a pretty comprehensive win by WVU. That 93 yard pass play was nothign short of spectacular.
I found it funny how every 5 minutes one commentator would say something about burning couches, while the other commentator would spout off the pre-rehearsed blurb about NOT setting couches on fire, while the other commentator rebutts with "its tradition!".

It seems to be the pattern with VT every year... show lots of promise, then get beaten by some rival (Miami, WV, Pittsburgh, Syracuse), and then collapse and lose a couple more.
(Note: Every year in this case refers to this year and last year, as my memory doesn't go back much farther regarding VT.) |

I love the Miami haters.
When they beat VT you can come here, and still find a reason to complain about how bad they are because they almost lost to a team that just beat the #3 team in the country. Forget the fact they've lost what, 2 games in 3 years, they still suck, yeah, your right. Waaaaah. Go Canes! |

No no canes are good. They just don't play anyone. Pitt VT and Florida are all lost causes this year. Your win at Fl st was helped by shitty weather. its in blacksburg this year right? if it is i still put my money on VT one loss and all.

Has anyone ever considered that perhaps none of the E coast teams are as good as some think. The East Coast controls the media and the media hypes E Coast sports way out of proportion.

They don't play anyone? They have the 30th toughest schedule in College Football. They play Flordia, Flordia State, Tennesee and VT. They also play Pitt. Lost cause, bad weather, it doesn't matter. Flordia State plays in Florida too ya know, bad weather is no excuse. They've done nothing but win for 3 years, and proven how effective, and in what was supposed to be a so called "down year" (To Cane standards, I guess) they've turned it around and have a shot at the BCS, and right now, you can't argue with where they are. Right behind UO, who's got a tougher schedule, and isn't beating teams, they are killing them. Woulden't be any surprise if they killed Miami in the BCS Bowl game. (To me anyway) (Well, I suppose you can argue all you want, but it would be pointless, the only argument is USC =/ ) |
