Hurray for Emmitt Smith

I just wanted to send out a big congratulations to Emmitt Smith who rushed for more yards this week than he did last week.
Way to go Emmitt, you are a tribute to your sport.

Emmitt certainly has demonstrated that he was "a diamond among garbage last year." Just look at how the Cowboys have fallen apart without him to save them.

Emmit Smith should have retired with grace, ala Barry Sanders, last season instead of shuffling along with Arizona tring to squeeze out a few more yards.

I dont understand the attitude toward Emmitt Smith. He is the all time leading rusher and he thinks he can still be effective in the league. Granted he made a big mistake going to Ari, but whats the problem. If he had a decent line to run behind, he would be an average back in the league. At this point , what more could you ask for?

he spent his whole career @ Dallas and wants to end it in Arizona? why? doesnt he have enough $$ already?

emmitt is too old and weak to be an average back. dont blame it on the line. his body is breaking down pretty bad too.

and isnt it ironic that his career ended (?) in texas stadium?

It wasnt about money. He wants 20,000 yards. He couldnt stay in Dallas. ( although if he could have taken a pay cut and checked the superstar attitude at the door, he and the cowboys might have been better off). I was hoping he would do well for a couple seasons and retire a Cowboy (for a day). We'll see what happens with the shoulder. He may be done.
He was on the sidelines yesterday coaching the running backs. Maybe he can contribute in other ways?

i really dont think he will ever reach the 20k yard mark. he wont make it considering his body is falling apart after 10+ years in the league.

i dont think so either, at least not anymore. It was a bad move going somewhere with a below average line. I dont think Emmitt can create his own space anymore. He needs the hole to be opened.

and it looks really bad on emmitt right now. the cowboys are doing great and he couldnt be doing any worse.

and his comments about the diamond/trash makes him look even worse.

i dont think there could be anymore worse ending to such a great career.

Hey, and a big congrats to the Cardinals for giving their all in front of a hostle crowd of 500 in Tempe. Geez, how do they deal with the pressure of Sun Devil Stadium on a weekly basis.

For teams that have an away game against the Cardinals, it is like they have a bye week and a quick getaway weekend in beautiful Arizona.

I can't believe the Cards are getting a new stadium. Screw you, Bidwell.

While it is true that the "Emmitt Experiment" has gone horribly wrong here in Arizona, it has always seemed to me that Dallas fans (half of whom live in Phoenix) simply can't believe that anyone would want to play football anywhere but in Dallas. Emmitt probably made a mistake comming to the Cards, but if he felt like he still wanted to play and the Cowboys organization was making it clear they did not really want him anymore, who can blame him for coming to Arizona.

I don't blame Emmitt for wanting to continue to play. Many sports figures continue past their time. Being a lifelong Cowboy fan, we were both established in 1960, it was upsetting to see him in a stinkin' Cardinal uniform. My hope for him is that he doesn't get hurt really bad before he realizes it's time to hang em up.

In my humble opinion, Mr. Smith is the last of the really great gentlemen to play his position. When he scored he showed respect for the game and his team, unlike the showboating, taunting, and dancing youth who will replace him. Let him play as long as he can drag his aged carcass on the field.
