Sox vs. Yanks--September
Does this weekend symbolize a shift in the momentum or is it just a case of a hot Boston lineup catching up with a cool New York pitching staff??
I think Boston has an incredible lineup, but I think that pitching usually can shut down the bats in October. The Red Sox have enjoyed the top offense in the league for most of the season and they deserve the praise they'll get for thier performance this weekend. I still don't think they have the bullpen to close the deal after the regular season.

Bullpen is meaningless when you have an 11-0 lead though.
They will slug you to death inspite of that bullpen. Besides the Yankees rotation hasn't really been putting fear in anyone lately. None of their starters have one consecutive starts in quite a while. Those arms are old, fat, and tired.

It looks like the Sox will probably get into the playoffs, given that the Mariners are involved in their OWN Boston-sized collapse. I don't think two blowouts mean that much for Sox vs Yanks, though, unless Boston proves they can win the tough games. I love their offense but I'm not convinced they can hit that much in the playoffs.

*Sigh* I hate the Yankees or, as I like to call them, the Skankees. Both the Sox and Skankees bullpen suck, equally. Kim scares the hell out of me if the Sox make the playoffs. Not because he's good but because he's unreliable. Tonight's game versus the Orioles epitomized that: one inning, 4 er, and took the loss. All of this after Nomar tied it up in the top of the inning with a 440ft blast. Forgive me Red Sox nation, as I am a part of you, but the Skankees will fare better in the playoffs than the Sox; regardless of how many runs they score. I'd say next year, but we all know better.

I too hate the Yankee's. Tonight I was rooting against my Oriole's, but to no avail. I hate to admit it, but the Yanks are too stacked.

On a side note I watch ESPN every night and when I watch the Yankees highlight I always see the same thing. I always see Hideki Matsui making a great catch and his cap always falling off. That cap must be too big hehe. Anyone else notice this weird occurence? His freaking cap falls off every damn time.
I knew it. http://www.freep.com/sports/tigers/tcorn10_20030910.htm HEAD START: As Tigers players and manager Alan Trammell came off the field after batting practice Tuesday, they smiled at how rookie pitcher Matt Roney had become news in Japan. Several members of the Japanese media were interviewing Roney near the dugout because he had won a "hat-off" with Hideki Matsui, the Yankees' rookie outfielder from Japan. Tigers bullpen catcher Todd Maulding arranged the competition. "We switched hats to see who had the biggest head," Roney told the Japanese media. Matsui wears a size 8. But he lost to Roney, who wears an 8 1/4. For at least the third time this season, Roney won a "hat-off" from an opponent.
