20 Game loser
Detroit is on the verge of having two 20 game losers, Jeremy Bonderman is 6-18 and Mike Maroth is 6-19. Davy Lopes, former coach of the Brewers, took some heat for benching free swinging shortstop Jose Hernandez who was well on his way to obliterating Bobby Bonds single season strikeout record in 2002.
In light of this what do you think Alan Trammel should do? Personally, I think you put Maroth on the DL and let Bonderman pitch again since he's still 2 losses away from the record. These guys are young and inexperienced and play for the worse team in baseball. A season like this may very well hurt their emotional development and limit their potential.

Greg Maddox lost a whole bunch of games for a bad team his first year. Didn't hurt him.
Hey, these guys aren't stupid. They can see that they have the worst run support in the league, and that guys with worst ERA's then them have better records. I just feel that these young guys haven't had enough innings in AAA, but that's not their fault. Therefore, they could learn alot by starting some games in September. |

The Tigers don't have any better options. They HAVE to go with these two. Even though Maroth should a a #4 starter right now and Bonderman should be in AA.

It's not matter of being stupid and not everyone is Greg Maddux. Baseball, more than other sport is a mental game. Don't believe me? then take a look a couple of years ago when Chuck Knoblach couldn't throw to first base to save his life. What the hell was that? was he stupid? no its that baseball has the ability to turn you into a "HeadCase". How can you explain whats happening to Pat Burrell? It's mental. He still has the tools he had last year when he was knocking the cover off the ball. but this year he can barely keep his ass above the mendoza line.
For a hitter you go up there and take your hacks and day by day you can maybe come around. For a pitcher you have one start every 5 days and then you have 4 days for your brain to start fucking with you. I bet your brain fucks with you even more when it tells you you're on the worst team in history and Brian Kingman is about to be dethroned.

They don't HAVE to do any such thing. With the expanded roster Detroit can bring up some career minor leaguers and save the psyche of the guys they plan on winning with.

They announced today that he's out of the rotation for now but might make one more start before the end of the season.
