When I was a young, lean burger I used to be into saber.
It seemed the coolest to me. Running attacks with slashes to the head really get the heart pumping.

Foil was okay as a gateway to saber and epee seemed to have too much poking at the opponent’s feet to be taken seriously.

My main problem was the snobbery. The club at my university was very cliquish. They were intolerable and eventually I drifted off to pick-up basketball.

Just last week the wife wanted to throw out the old fencing jacket. I just couldn't do it and stashed it in the attic. Maybe someday...

Yep, I fence, and a whole bunch of people from my team are on tfp also.

Mostly Epee though, I am too aggressive and too stubborn for foil.

Our club is very nice and open. Every year we welcome everyone who wants to fence, and we try to make them part of our 'family'.

And, I admit it might not look like a lot of fun, when you get up there and try it, it is a blast. You are essentially fighting a duel, and I can think of few sports that compare.

I don't know how many potential fencers drift into the tilted sports forum though.....

Tried it once or twice. I was too afraid I'd hurt the other person to really enjoy it. Definatly not a possibility I've thrown out though... who knows maybe I'll try again in the fall.

I'm a fencer. Mainly Foil but I will do some Sabre and Epee. It's tons of fun. Like Greg700 said, there's not many sports that can compare to the exillarating feeling of fighting a duel. It combines strategy and the mind with much physical movement. Nothing could be better! It's a great stress relief as well... I get to stab people without facing any consequences... BaHaHaHaHaHaHa! (*insert evil laugh here*)
Everyone is welcome to fence. I know kids that can kick my butt from the professional coaching they have recieved. And I heard that the women who holds the record for the world's oldest person started fencing at 80! Anyone can do it! It's not hard to find a club, and everyone is open and friendly to everyone else.

b04 in epee for a competative uni club.

picked it up because i had a 10 year history of martial arts going into my freshman year and all the martial arts clubs here sucked so i picked up fencing. suck with it because its fun, competative, a bitchin hard workout, and i didn't suck at it.

these two guys are trying to get into the olympics wrapped in barbed wire - does that count as fencing?

I'd try fencing, but I'm sure I'd be terrible at it. I'm probably to heavy for it.

For those actually do fence, does it involve a lot of foot movement, arm movement, or something else?

Took it in college.

All I remember was that there were several cute girls in the class.

Just came back from fencing.
We have the stereotypical fencing maestro... It's *all* about winning, nothing less is acceptable. He has a bronze medal from the olympics, fencing for Poland. Pretty awesome. Also stereotypical in that I started fencing today at 1330, by 1530 I was done with footwork and drills and stepping onto the piste. Anybody British going to the Essex Nationals qualifiers? See you there if you are...

Not in college or at the club level but got into it after joining the caste of my local rennaissance faire. It is the basis for most of our stage combat with blades so I learned what I could. Several of the guys at work do it as well and we will often take mask and foil over lunch under the trees outside. I keep meaning to find some place to take real leasons but some how it keeps getting over looked due to a lack of time...

I LOVE Fencing!! I'm on my college's club team. I get sad when I have to miss practices. The best part about my fencing uniform? The pink power-ranger looking breast protecter I wear!!!

I do foil.. I don't have the skill to do epee, and couldn't take the pain of doing saber.
