NHL season is right around the corner..
With only about 1 month left till training camp, I'm getting seriously excited for the season to get under way. What are your favorite team's question marks going into the season? How high do you expect them to finish in the standings?
For me, my L.A. Kings have the big question mark of Adam Deadmarsh and Jason Allison. If both can return to form after last years injuries, I think we can be a top 4 team in the west. We acquired Roman Cechmanek and signed luc Robitaille and Trent Klatt. We also got Josef Stumpel back from Boston to be the #2 Center behind Allison.

I am a Stars fan as well. Their biggest question mark is the loss of Derian Hatcher. Hopefully Matvichuk, Erskine and Boucher can step up to the plate and be an extreme physical force to replace Hatcher. I think that they'll end up 2nd in the West and in the NHL, right behind Detroit. The Stars have a good chance to win it all, but untill they prove themselves against the bigger and badder Red Wings, I won't make any more predictions.

Red Wings and the best D around.
I am not convinced yet that Hasek can come back and stand on his head but he is better than Joseph in the playoffs. Red Wings need a #1 centerman and they will be in good shape. I think that the Avs are going to be a true treat to watch but they really need to pick up a goalie somewhere down the line. Playoffs are about D not O. Art |

The biggest issues Calgary has to face are:
1) Jarome Iginla's health, and him performing up to expectations 2) Kobasew/Leopold/Saprykin stepping up 3) Turek's consistency. IF all three conditions turn out okay for us, we'll be back in the show. Hopefully. |

The Red Wings are retooled and ready for a final cup run before a complete transition period comes to town. The pickups they've made are good replacements, but if they pickup Lapointe to replace Federov, I might have to cry. Hopefully they can sucker NYR into taking Cujo, since Sather seems to have a boner for him, and get the underappreciated Nedved in return.
I think the scariest team in the west, however, could very well be LA. If they can stay (get?) healthy, and get all their new aquisitions working together early, especially Cechmanek, I wouldn't wanna face them in a 7 game series. Colorado would be an awesome team if they hadn't completely destroyed their defense to put the offense together. They have two questionable goalies in net, so what do they do? They clear the way in front of them by trading away any talent they had on D, except Blake. And with Worrel, I hope those new Offensive lines can play PK, cuz they are gonna spend alot of time there. |

Canucks all the way. Hopefully they sign Murray Baron but if not, there are other blueliners around. I wish Burke would have pulled out some cash and gone into the free agent market a little but hopefully the team can pull off a similar season to last year.
As for the fans, the Canucks are expecting the equivalent of between 15,000 and 16,000 seasons tickets sold this year leaving a single game ticket and group ticket base of only 2500 or so per game. They expect many of the games to be sold out before they even go on sale to the general public. Vancouver is happy to finally have a good team and the city is already pumped at the upcoming season.
