NASCAR : The Glen

so, what are your predictions on the glen?

the rousch boys have been amazing so far, even greg biffle is hot.

but i'll rather put my $$ on dale jr. he had a good qualifiying and also was 3rd fastest in happy hour.

the hendrick boys are also to be watched out for, especially with jeff gordon winning the pole.

the road warriors can also come into play at the glen and i'm betting that ron fellows would do the best out of them. i think that fellows even has a chance at a win! (afterall, he is part of dei!)

so, what are ur predictions.

Serpent 08-09-2003 09:20 PM

No one will beat jeff gordon.

grayman 08-09-2003 09:59 PM

If Nascar has the chance to give the race to Dale Jr., then he will win. Otherwise I agree with Serpent.

Not unless someone puts him into the kitty litter.

hhaha, race is over.

jeff gordon spun out on the first corner of the race and crashed in the last corner of the race.
finished in the 30's!

HAHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHHAhAHAH!!!

as for dale jr, a good solid day with a 3rd place finish and he would've won if the other guys didnt get the break on the r.wallace caution.

Wtf are you talking about? Get a clue then come back.

archer2371 08-10-2003 01:10 PM

Well, considering that Happy Harvick got called to the Big Red Truck to go see Mikey, that hit was uncalled for. The lap one incident, Biffle shouldn't have been driving that hard on cold tires, but not really his fault, just racing circumstances. Harvick could have gone around Gordon but he stayed square on him and did not touch the brake once. Also, Gordon went all the way back from 42nd to 3rd, he had the car to beat, and Harvick had to act like an idiot and put him into the wall.

The_Dude 08-10-2003 01:46 PM

hold on a second.........gordon ran OUT oF GAS! and he still was on the racing grove! he was supposed to get OUT of the way to drivers racing for position. gordon cant race while he's out of fuel! so get the fuck out of the way!

i dont blame harvick at all. how do you expect harvick to know that gordon ran out of fuel?

archer2371 08-10-2003 02:49 PM

He knew it. There was no reason to put him in the wall, and there's not much you can do when you run out of gas, you've lost power steering, your brakes don't work real well, a lot starts to go to shit when you run out of gas, and any race car driver can see and know the signs of when another race car is out of gas. How did BP and Wally D learn about Gordon bein out of gas? Those are public channels, and NASCAR would have relayed the information to each team telling them that Gordon was out of gas. If Harvick "couldn't" get around him, how come Jimmie Johnson was able to. Because Harvick was being a prick that's why, he could have gone around him, Gordon is racing for POINTS, Harvick wasn't because he's in fifth or sixth place in the WCC Standings. What Harvick did was stupid, irresponsible and impatient. Watch the replay again, Harvick hit him twice, once going into turn 11 and again to put him into the wall, why, because he's a hot head, Gordon was pretty damn easy to pass as your beloved Little E did, and plus, turn 11 ain't that easy of a place to pass in, nor find a groove that WON'T put you into the grass/gravel trap. Plus, Mikey wouldn't call ol Happy to the Big Red Truck for nothin.

The_Dude 08-10-2003 05:09 PM

you can easily drive without power steering. i hear stories every week about a driver who lost power steering and continues (i think ryan newman even won a race like that and terry labonte didnt have power steering today).

yes, harvick hit him twice.

the first time, harvick was coming off the turn and gordon was in the racing groove so he slams into him. secondly, harvick gets stuck behind gordon and the finish line is close by. so, he accelerates instead of brakes. you come off the turn in the high groove and gordon was right there.

as for bp knowing that jeff was out of gas, we were watching jeff. harvick wasnt watching jeff (if i'm not mistaken, harvick was quite back from jeff)

The_Dude 08-10-2003 05:12 PM

"You're coming to the checkered, and he runs out of gas," a weary Harvick said. "I got into the back of him, and then he's zigging and zagging. I gassed it up again and spun him out. Not much I could do about it.

"Usually, when you're out of gas, you get out of the racing groove."

that's from harvick

Maybe on the ovals where you can get really low or really high to avoid traffic and bring out the caution, but on road courses it's damn near impossible, for NASCAR racing cars. Harvick was right behind him by the way, after Casey Mears took a trip thru the kitty litter and fell back to 22nd from 4th. On ovals, it's a lot easier to steer without power steering because you're going left all the time (and they have gas) Gordon didn't, his motor was failing because it was running on fumes, there is not much he could do, but Harvick could have gone around him, it was unnecessary for him to put Gordon into the wall. Harvick actually might have kept a spot and not lost it to Jimmie Johnson had he gone around Gordon instead of trying to go through him. Also, if you watch, the 24 car was trying to get to the very outside at the straightaway to let Harvick by, giving him plenty of room to pass him, all he had to do was tap on the brakes, slide right and pass him, it's that simple. And that thing about the cars coming out on the high side from turn 11 is a load of crock, how come JJ was down there then? Several other cars have come off of that turn on the bottom line and done just fine.

The_Dude 08-10-2003 07:14 PM

hm..the story develops.

seems like harvick wasnt the only guy that hit jeff.

``I ran into the back of him and tried not to kill him,'' Earnhardt said. ``You run out of gas, you're not going to block me all the way around the track.''

and when you come off the last corner, you come on the high side, where jeff gordon was. as for jimmy, he prolly saw harvick hit jeff the first time and slowed down enough to go low.

looks to me like jeff was trying to block people.

sixate 08-10-2003 07:41 PM

I think it's great he ran Gordon off the track. It's not like Gordon has never done that kind of shit before. Fuck him. He needs to shut up and quit his whining.

amen to that, brother.

more on this issue from dale jr:

Quote:

"I ran into the back of him because he ran in front of me," Junior said. "I knew I was catching him a lot -- probably 50 mph faster than he was going. Wherever I went, he went, and I knew that he was going to try and block me.

"I couldn't lift because the 29 (Harvick) was coming. I guess the 29 ran over him too, (which was) not very smart on his (Gordon's) part. I would've just taken the spots I lost because I ran out of gas.

"You're not going to block me all the way around the last two corners of the race track. I don't care who you are, you don't need to block anybody the last two laps.

"He ended up in the wall and lost a bunch of spots, so you tell me who made the bad decision."
