Beckham scores for Madrid. Anyone care?
 

Well, Beckham put one in the net for his new club. Ronaldo's goal was pretty nifty too. Real Madrid sure are a force this coming season.

Could just be Brazilian bias, but he makes some good points...

I totally agree with Ronaldinho > Beckham. Don't worry it's not just a Brazilian bias

beckham is good...but i think he is overrated.

As has been show (and now confirmed by a movie) Beckham is great in dead ball situations. But I think Ronaldinho's ball handling and open field abilities surpass those of Beckham.

The thing about Becks is he is effective. His passing is brilliant and he has the vision to go with it.

Skills are not everything - Ronaldinho is obviously a more talented player on the ball...but what does he do with it? That is the all important question.

Another good example is Van Nistelrooy. No-one would argue that Ronaldo is a better player, but who is the more prolific goal scorer? Comes back down to effectiveness.

As a midfielder, Becks is world class. I am yet to see Ronaldinho match his effectiveness on the pitch.

Ronaldinho is the better player. And for Beckham to be regarded as one of the best in the world, in my eyes, he would have to be able to beat players with the ball at his feet.

Well according to real sports with bryant gumbel No one in america cares bout BEckham and i being from american second that notion I dont care :)

I don't think that even Beckham rates himself.
He knows he has some skill (obviously) but I'm sure he recognises that he's one of a large number of people who have similar skills.
(for some) Let him enjoy his profession - you'd appreciate some lattitude too if you were in his shoes I suspect.

If Sky Sports stop showing Barca matches in order to show Real ones, I'll be awfully pissed off.
Got to see quite a few Barcelona games on Sky Sports 1 on sunday evenings last season.

Usually I love to get into this sort of conjecture, but the great part of all this is that we're soon going to able to see what happens ourselves.

i think hes only good on freekicks, just sub him in when u need him, but on Madrid, more than enough players already on the pitch can strike the ball(Carlos etc). They just needed beckham for international exposure

Well, he used to play not 20 miles down the road from me in Murky Manchester, and like all things, he will soon be forgotten.

We will only see him in the England games, which may be few and far between if they don't qualify!!

And yes, Sky Sports will probably start showing Real Madrid games and not Barcelona games because that's what THEY think we want to see.

.A lot has been made about his marketing value but when you look at the player you have to say that Beckham has quality, he has a superb work effort; a varied passing game and of course those free kicks. He has what all great players have and that is the knack of making time for himself on the ball. Comparisons to players like Ronaldhino do neither player justice.
