Oh yeah, where NASCAR cars are doing about 60 mph, Formula One cars go about 120 on a road course. F1 will probably never visit an oval because of the excess g-forces that would be placed on the cars. Not to mention that at Talladega or Daytona, the top speeds would reach almost to 300 mph (or so it's theorized).

Yeah, I can actually watch F1 racing. Its amazing everything that goes into those cars. 0-100 in what, 2 seconds when really pushed?
I get so bored with things like NASCAR. Turn left......turn left......turn left......turn left...... My apologies to all NASCAR fans as I know there are a ton of people who love it. Its just not my thing. |

Yeah, The_Dude - they really can get those cars to move.
Nascar bills itself as the "fastest sport" but that just must be an average or something. The F1 cars can easily hit 220 at the fastest course for them - Monza. Part of the fun of watching F1 is following the technology - the tech is its own story line. Teams are generally not restricted into developing new technology, and the race is always on to develop the best chassis. Race tommorrow, 7:30 AM ET on Speed. |

Yeah, I hate parity, I mean sure I'm all for competitiveness, but don't bring down the guys that are doing it the best, challenge the guys who aren't doing so well to do better. That's probably the only thing I don't like about NASCAR. In F1 the Ferraris dominate (even tho, they aren't doing AS good this year due to Bridgestone's laziness in staying the better tyre) and everyone else complains and the FIA is like, why don't you try to get better instead of bitchin about it all the time? And I'm glad that teams like BMW/Williams (who were left for dead in the first quarter of the season) have gotten better and so has McLaren, Renault, Jaguar has made some leaps over the past few weeks, wish I could say the same for Minardi or BAR Honda. Jordan is doing better. All in all, I think F1 is a better motorsport than NASCAR, not that I don't like NASCAR, it's just that I love F1 more.

well, i kinda like the parity in nascar.
it's not the owner with the most $$ to spend wins the race (we all remember m.shumacher last yr). it's the closest thing to a salary cap in motor sports.

Ah yes, but Schuey doesn't have a stranglehold on the Championship this year like he did last year. Juan Pablo Montoya is gonna give him a run for his money.

Michael leads Montoya by just six points.
In the constructers championship, Ferrari leads BMW by just two points. You don't need an intrusive governing body like Nascar to have a close points race, and "parity" is a matter of definition. Ever see those Petty Enterprises cars in the top twenty? But a Jordan won a race this year in F1. |
