I love watching it on Fox Sports World. It's the most chaotic game I've ever seen. I remember my dad introducing it to me years ago, watching the referees or judges or whatever you call them, the guys in the white suits and cowboy hats, make that arm motion when points are scored. I don't know the rules, or the scoring system, but damn it's fun to watch. Like soccer or American football combined and much faster paced...

yep another aussie who loves afl. Despite living in perth, i go for Brisbane and have done since 1995. Although the eagles and freo are going really well. It seems all interstae clubs are doiminating and then there collingwood, who are doing well and thats about it for the melbourne teams.
For me, i reckon all 6 interstate teams wil make it, with collingwood and essendon making the top eight. Which would be a really wierd final series with all the required games needed to be played at the MCG.... also, i really dislike port atm. Not cause they robbed birsbane on the weekend, mainly cause they a team of whining thugs. Mark Williams is a dickhead as well. i also dislike essendon, quite a bit. |

yeah MikeyChalupa it is a caotic game. we have 3 umpires on the feild 2 goal umpiers with the cow boy hats and 2 boundry umpires to through the ball back into play when it goes over the line. the points scoring system is 6 points for a goal and 1 point for a behind.

With regards to the umpires. They definitely look like a bunch of poofs (IMO). Especially when they're sprinting back for the centre bounce.
Anyway, the finals are coming up in just a few weeks. Anyone willing to predict who they think will take the flag? My money's on the Lions. They've had a bit of a bad run this year but should have virtually their full-squad back in the next 2 weeks. Even though they're not playing their best footy I still think they'll be able to turn it on in September. Looking like an all-interstate final too this year (is that a first?)

Surly Sydney can't beat the lions 3 times in one year?
Its the lions turn to win Although no outcome is easy to call, as the games will be so even, i'd really like to see brisbane smash port in the GF, mainly cause i really hate port. If brisbane don't win on the weekend, as long as port don't win the flag, i won't be too unhappy. How unusual would it be to have the GF at the MCG with no victorian teams??? Moving on though, who do you think for the brownlow? voss only played 15 or so games, but each game he was pretty much in the top 3, so i think he's got a real good chance. As for Sydney, Goodes (sp?) would be up there as well. Also Buckley could finally win one, as he got nominated the coaches best player. one of the best final series for a while, miany cause of the absence of victorian clubs. can't wait |

ok,
so even though this thread is slowly dying, i can´t sleep until i actually finish it off... just for posterity. preliminary final winners were Collingwood and Brisbane... (no Sydney, boohoo) anyway, Grand Final next weekend... and the Brownlow tonight.

The thread will never die while theres' still some hardcore Lions fans out here
Should be an awesome game next week. I know I can't wait. Rocca will surely miss the game which looks like a huge loss for the Pies. Brownlow => It's gotta be Buckley If anyone from the Lions stood a chance it would be Voss. Acker had a pretty ordinary year and Black the same. PS - how good was Hewitt yesterday!!!!

LLEYTON ROCKED!!!
that was the best game of tennis i´ve ever seen!! yep, i think Rocca will miss the grand final... that hit looked pretty damn nasty... which is a massive loss for the pies. but, still, they´re definitely going to be favouites for this grand final... therefore, for this one game, i´m going to barrack for the Lions.

how wierd... a three-way tie for the Brownlow...
Goodes, Buckley and Ricciuto. wow. and Crawford, Wanganeen and Cousins only a point behind. that was just totally strange. but well done to them all... (esp Adam Goodes). edit - just noticed this... three winners in the Brownlow... does this mean 3 wins in a row for Brisbane?? think about it..

yes, definitley, good luck or whatever comes in 3's.
Although i thought that was an amazing count. About 6 other players could've won, imagine if it was a 9 player tie I didn't really expect Roo to poll so well, mcleod was up there for a while, although didn't seem to poll in the last 6 games or so. Nevertheless, very enjoyable to watch given they're just reading out numbers Go Brisbane on Saturday! |

yeah, i love those international matches they have at the ed of the season, between australia and ireland.
Last time it was very emotional, cause it was just after the bali bombings, hopefully nothing like that happens again, but i will be looking forward to this years game. I've seen a bit of gaelic (sp?) football as well and quite enjoyed it. |

well, if its taken Tadgh Kennelly a few years to be one the best players in the AFL (imo) then Irish amateurs are fantastic.
i´m surprised that more Irish players haven´t come down under to play professionally in the AFL league (where money can get bloody good). the games are quite similar, and good players can adapt quickly. perhaps Kennelly is just paving the way. in the international rules comp, well, i used to think that Australia would walk all over the Irish, but having seen the Irish beat us, then i don´t think there is any difference in talent or ability. the fact that gaelic players are amateur only raises my opinion of them.

ok, hope i´m not talking to myself again...
its the fourth quarter in the Grand Final... and Brisbane are KILLING collingwood. i never would have thought it would be so easy. three in a row. ok, its almost over, and its an absolute blow-out. Aker and Lynch both in awesome touch. can´t wait to see Eddies face. (no, thats just nasty) well done Brisbane.

We are the pride of Brisbane town,
We wear maroon, blue and gold. We will always fight for victory, Like Fitzroy, and Bears of old. All for one, and one for all, We will answer to the call. Go Lions, Brisbane Lions, We'll kick the winning score. You'll hear our mighty roar. ha, i am a bit late, but it was a great game. I got voss for the drinking game we were playing and so got some good drinking done early. Was pretty mellow and happy by he games end The guy who got Simon Black (39 touches) wasn't in good shape though |
