With the approanch of the MidSummer Classic, I'd like to take the "who will win the world series" thread, by jmf1234, a step further: Namely, who will win their divisions? Who will earn the wildcard? There are some GREAT races this year. My picks: Atlanta Braves (unfortunately), St. Louis Cards, Arizona D'Backs win their divisions. Wildcard to San Francisco Giants. New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners win division. Oakland beats Boston in one game playoff for wildcard. I'd like to pick the Dodgers (no hitting) or the Red Sox (no deep rotation) - but I think these teams have some work to do before the trading deadline to become contenders. The AL Central is very interesting to me. I can't believe KC can get it done - the Twins are getting roughed up by bad teams, and Chicago still has suspect pitching outside of Colon. Who will be the best of the worse? The NL Central is gonna go to the wire. I think St. Louis will be healthy and ready by the first of August. But the Cubs and Astros won't go away - and Cinci and Pittsburgh still have an opportunity here. Your turn. Last edited by gov135; 07-07-2003 at 08:19 AM.. |

NL: Braves, Reds, Giants. Wildcard to D'Backs or Dodgers.
The Braves always win. It's just not funny anymore. The Cubs have nose dived and once again all the hot summer day games are going to screw them over. I think the Reds can pull out the division if everyone (even Griffey is healthy). I also think Pujols is gonna get .400. He is the MVP. AL: Yankees (woohoo), White Sox, Seattle. Wildcard to Oakland. The Twins should be 10 games ahead of everyone by now in their division, but with the ChiSox's recent trades, it's obvious they are very serious about getting to the playoffs. Once the Yankees get 100% healthy, the series is theirs.

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

NL == Atlanta, St Louis, Arizona - Wild Card - San Fran
AL == NY, Minnesota, Seattle - Wild Card - OAkland The Cubs are hurt by the loss of Patterson. In St Louis Jocketty makes a deal for a pitcher to shore up the rotation and then they get healthy. Atlanta has too big of a lead already and they have enough experience not to wilt down the stretch. In the AL - Big George just makes me sick by buying another pennant, Seattle is just a solid team with a big enough lead to hold off Oakland. The AL Central is a coin toss, whoever doesn't suck the most. If Santana stays in the Twins rotation they have the pitching to stay ahead of the pack. |

NL;
East; Atlanta , no suprise there Central; St-Louis, not cause of their pitching though. West; San Francisco WildCard; go to Phillies since I presume Burrell will wake up! AL; East; Yankees (no suprise either) Central; Chicago ( don't laugh) West; Seattle (Duh!) WildCard; Boston I see St-Louis in the N.L. at the World Series but with a little luck and something like a rally monkee. I think the Yankees will go all the way and win it all or Torre is so fired. Best chance to grab a spot should go to Oakland and L.A. but I think Brown will be stoped buy injury (again) and they will miss the Playoffs buy a couple of games. Montreal will continue to go down and K.C. will stumble. |
