The real football
Anyone here follow the "real football" (soccer).
I suppose most of you are in the States where it is considered mostly a sport for kids and women... |
and hence comes the name "soccer mom"
|
Yeh, I'm a soccer fan :D
|
I don't really follow, but I played for many years and I'd like to punch anyone who says it is for women and children.
I usually only see games when they come to Edmonton, so not very often. Last year's u-19 women's world cup was freakin awesome though. |
I watch it, but I'd never admit it in polite society.
|
yeah i follow it. I follow all of the big leagues in europe, the MLS, and the world cup along with it's qualifying matches.

Sad football news today, Cameroon midfielder Marc Foe died mid-game against Columbia in the Confederations Cup. Just fell down and died.... They tried for 45 minutes to revive him... cause of death unknown at this stage
|
Yeah, I'm at a complete loss for words.
Very disturbing footage of him, just collapsing on the pitch and his eyes rolling back into his head :( Apparently in the Colombia - Cameroon game after they announced that Foe had died, you could hear a pin drop in the stadium. What's even more amazing how Thierry Henry dedicated his goal to Foe's memory, what a great sportsman. |
I played soccer in college. A big fan. From Virginia so we have pretty good youth leagues to start out in. UVA has been a collegiate powerhouse for years (although they haven't won the championship for a while now).
|
I follow it casually. I have a team in the Aussie league, and keep an eye on how Arsenal are going.
|
Hey man there was some soccer player from England who worked out with the Dolphins and he said American football was nothing like what he expected. He said it was a lot harder than he thought. He couldn't even kick a field goal, the coaches said he was best at receiving.
|
I am a huge fan of Fotball I follow the MLS especially DC United and am an avide follower of the English premiere and Spanish premiere leagues.
It was very sad about the Foe The said it was not even that hot that day only abour mid 80's. |

I follow soccer especially those in England, Italy and Spain ... love to see how Beckham gonna fit in to the Madrid team .. and also wondering if ever MU , Madrid and Arsenal gonna buy good and experience defenders ... on top of it Arsenal goalkeeper crisis and Liverpool's quest for the so-called "missing link" in the team .. heck wonder who that might be ....

you knew it was coming though when he had Beck benched for the Real Madrid game. That is ridiculous. |
"Sadly, he is destined for failure. There is no way he can live up to the hype. Man Utd is so idiotic for letting him go. That senile Ferguson let one of his best players leave because they don't see eye to eye. "
beckham is not a world class player by any means, he can kick a dead ball, better bthan most and thats it. He has, no falir, no skill, no pace, he is unrivaled as a crosserr but that is asll, ferguson has alrwady shown he can replace him with .OG.S and in the future darren fletcher, beckham is a dead specialisist, and an agents dream, nothin more. |
sorry...bit drunk last post :)

OK football fans, let me hear your opinions on where Harry Harry Kewell is going to move to - the latest news is that Liverpool have all but stitched up the deal for 6 million pounds - will he fit in at Liverpool? I think he might. Would he have fit at Man U? Or Arsenal? Probably not as well. Would like to see him at Man U, but I think Liverpool is the place for him.

I thought really football was afl....... hehe........

That player was David James, a goalkeeper who spent a day with Miami Dolphins. It should also be noted that American Footballers can't play Football. http://www.miamidolphins.com/pressbo...contentID=2770 |
yeah, im a big soccer fan. I think that the next 10 years is gonna see a massive turn around in who dominates world soccer. Australia, countries in Asia and the USA are improving big-time. In international games these countries are really showing thier worth.
Im just really sad that FIFA has wroughted Australia so badly on its qualification for the next world cup. After recently beating England, France and others youd think theyd try and give them an easier route. Instead FIFA had to back down (and re-neg on its promise to Australia) to the powerful South Americans, who hold more sway. Sadly, it looks as though Australia is gonna have to go the long road again. |
USA is already among the top ten in the world, surpassing Mexico for CONCACAF dominance. Mexico is a more technical team that that plays absolutely beautifully with short, crisp passing. But they falter against teams like argentina that thrive on a high pressure defense. Nevermind USAs defeat at the gold cup, they play an exciting brand of soccer and should prove a worth adversary at the next world cup
