Titans kicker Rob Bironas kicked a record eight field goals Sunday in a 38-36 victory over the Texans.

HOUSTON - The Tennessee Titans needed every one of Rob Bironas’ NFL-record eight field goals to hold off the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Bironas kicked a 29-yard field goal, his eighth of the game, as time expired to lead the Titans to a 38-36 win.

The kick foiled a spirited comeback attempt by the Texans who scored 29 points in the fourth quarter, capped by a 53-yard touchdown pass from Sage Rosenfels to Andre’ Davis to take a 36-35 lead with 57 seconds to play.

The Titans faced a third-and-10 at their own 37 when Kerry Collins found Roydell Williams on a 46-yard pass that set up the winning kick.

Awesome game. Probably the most exciting game of the season so far, but am I the only person who could care less about field goal kicking records? :yawn:

Obviously, CaptainObvious you're right, since nobody else replied. I found it interesting not only because its an NFL record & the Titans are my home team but also because Bironas scored 24 points with his foot, more than most teams scored that week.

Doesn't that just mean that the offense couldn't get the job done? It's like setting a record for most yards punted in a game; not really something to be proud of, except for that one player who did it.

Since most teams didn't score 24 points, I think it says that one man is better than most teams.....:)

Hey the patriots rock, the colts are great too, but if you check the scores for that week you'll see that I'm right. BTW, punts don't score any points, normally, put as I recall Bironas not only kicked 7 field goals, but his eighth won the game....:)

24 points by one kicker and the another kicker who leads the league in career accuracy misses 2 - all in the same week. That's why they play the game.
