And the Calder Trophy goes to............
Barret Jackman?!?!?!?!?! WTF!?!?!?!
How does that talentless goon of a defensmen, who almost singlehandedly cost St. Louis the playoffs with his untimely penalties, as well as his tendency to fight with players 50+ pounds lighter than him, win the Calder over Zetterberg? or hell even Nash? Just the fact that Nash can score a goal while playing for Columbus makes him better than Jackman. Obviously if you watch hockey and look at my nick, Im a little biased toward Zetterberg. But come on, he was arguably the best player on the best line in Detroit's all-star laden roster, and this is the first year he has ever played North American hockey. He even stepped up and scored a couple of goals in the playoffs while the vets on the team were taken a snooze. At least the right guy won the Norris Anywho, I'm sure most people are going to disagree with me for one reason or another, but thats my 2 cents. Now to go back to the long, slow, painful wait until opening day of next season. |

Stevie is not an issue, Darren wont be if hes smart, or he'll end up about as worthless as Lapointe, but Federov is another story. I'd like to say he can go take a flying leap, but if he doesn't come back, Detroit is going to be a little week down the center. Itll be up to Zetterberg and Datsyuk to fill the hole. So we can only hope he comes to his senses in time. And I am thuroughly disappointed that Grigorenko won't be able to play with the team this year, i was really looking forward to it. Its understandable though, what with him alomst dying and all, guess he has a good excuse. I would like to see Williams finally get a full year to show off what he can do. He always looks great in training camp, and does well when he is called up.

I hope you're right, but if you believe the media, he and his new agent have already turned down at least 1 multiyear 10mil/per contract, and Kenny Holland, along with the rest of us, knows that with the current situation in the NHL, he isnt worth any more than that. Hopefully the media is full of crap as usual.

I hate to argue with ya, but it is definitely his new agent Pat Brisson. While they are talking, their seems to be an issue about an offer made during the regular season which Federov never turned down, but asked the Wings to wait while he sorted out some personal problems. Then when he came back and was ready to talk, they had removed that offer and started with a lower deal. Here is the article:
http://www.freep.com/sports/redwings...3_20030613.htm That covers Yzerman, Federov, and McCarty, as well as where Hatcher stands on possibly dealing with the Wings. You can also check the Detroit news for todays articles about the negotiations, but they don't ever seem to have the same inside info as the free press, they just tend to speculate alot, and whine bitch and moan. I still haven't heard much about Woolley, who I really hope they can keep. He fits in so perfectly with their style of play, it would be a shame to let him go. |
