Hangnails
Ok girls, you meet a guy, all other factors being even, you must evaluate him based on the condition of his fingernails. Is it a gross turn off or is a rugged turn on, when guys have that kinda dry skin around their nails from picking them? Do you prefer your man to have (metroish) clean nails?

...Dry skin around the nails?
I don't know anything about nails and whats good or bad about them. I keep mine clipped short for taekwondo but other than that I couldn't tell you.

My nails are very well-kempt, but I wouldn't call them "metroish", as that implies mani-and pedicures.

Might just be me, but since I started fingering women(way back when), I've kept my nails shorter than short. To the point where there is no nail overhanging the end of my finger. It is a common curtousy as far as I'm concerned. Also it doesn't kill you to take a nail file to the ends of your fingers to smooth them up a bit. Now the callouses on my palms, I'm not gonna do shit with them. They are there for a reason.

Dirty fingernails are - well - a little gross... it's not hard to have clean fingernails (after showering) Manicured hands just seems a little too pretty... I like callouses, I like hands that look like they've done some work.

Clean is a must, but I don't really care for guys to have prettier hands than me.
Meaning: cared-for, groomed, but not "unused" looking, lol. Short nails are really really good. Personally, unless the guy is a musician (guitarist, I can see how that is useful), long or even long-ish nails are a turn-off. BUT...if you trim your nails at work, I will kick your @$$. That is the WORLD'S biggest turn off to me, gawd.

I am awful when it comes to upkeep for my nails and hands so I can't very well ask my guy to go overboard with his upkeep. Rough hands from a reason (work, hobby, etc) are kind of cool to look at.

I'm not a vain guy, but I am quite proud of my fingernails. They're super strong and have nary white spot to be seen. All I do is trim them regularily.
So how do we men feel about the condition and style of a woman's fingernail? I prefer unpainted nails that aren't too long. Those extra-long clickety nails with complex designs painted on them are a huge turn off for me. How on earth do you manage to button your shirt much less run your fingers through my hair?

I agree with malificent. Why? Dirty nails touching me means there's proabily dirt from the nails on (or in - depending on the situation) me, which is gross.
I love hands with callouses or that are a little rough, maybe because those are the kind of hands that I'm used to. A guy can have "working" hands but not have them be dirty. Unclean nails is a sign that he just doesn't have very good grooming habits and make me wonder what else is dirty.

I am all about some hand-washing before we get to having sex. And I don't like nails to be long- scratching is very easy when you're not paying attention. I used to date a guy who was a cronic nail-biter, and his nails were always ragged, dry, and hideous. Martel keeps his nicely trimmed and hasn't ever bitten his nails- to me, it's sexy when he grooms himself by clipping his nails. It means he cares about how he looks enough to make sure his nails aren't too long- that's sexy for me.

I like when a mans hands are rough! No girly shit! Bite em, work hard with em, get em dirty! Works for me. . .
(Of course before any sexual activity, they must be washed )

Just clean with trimmed nails is all I care about really. I've never paid any special attention to the degree of roughness or smoothness of anyone's hands. Generally I'd say just keep em clean and I'm happy. But if I had to chose a preference I'd say smooth over rough. Rough hands are just, well, rough.
