There's Something About Mary

I have this co-worker who reminds me of the movie. She is pretty good looking, is very sweet, and is very sociable, but there is something else that seems to draw all men to her. Pretty much every guy she works with, is friends with, or just happens to strike up a conversation with ends up with either a crush or long lasting infatuation. Most them get over their crushes when they realize that it will end up as nothing more, but a few don't seem to realize that there is no chance and follow her around like a pack of trained puppies.

So I was wondering, does anyone else knows a girl or guy who is like this? or have any idea as to what it is that make everyone fall for them?

Yep. I'm consciously and deliberately tearing myself out of love with someone like that right now.

It's a funny thing, how we condition ourselves to be infatuated with people. We habiually think about them in certain ways, groove certain patterns of thought and feeling about them. I theorize that we can train ourselves out of it too--every time I think of her in certain ways, I deliberately catch myself and think of someone else, or think something else about her.

In the last two years, I've seen seven people fall in lust with her, while she stays friendly but cool with them. It's something she absolutely loves, having people want her and not wanting them back, it's her very favorite game. I'm through playing.

I know a girl exactly like that.

You can't describe what it is about her that attracts men (and women) to her, but I see it all the time.. I can't quite put my finger on it, there is just something about her.

It poses a problem when they are the love of your life, and you are the love of their life, and all these strangers, and friends are infatuated or in lust.

But you deal with it and move on I guess.

A girl I was very close with for two years was that way ... she got a power trip after having a group of them following her every whim, and putting up with crap from her just for a chance she'd give them That Look. She was the kind of girl that had 8-9 guys a month hanging around ME and then asking "you think I should go for Misty?", including my own cousin :| Finally broke enough hearts for them to learn and pass the word around ...

I knew a girl who had this effect on men. She was the type of girl who affected most (not all) men with the sort of infatuation you speak of, but really didn't ask for it. She was cute, granted, but for the most part she was just always really sweet to people. It absolutely drove her nuts that she couldn't have a normal friendship with men without having them fall in love with her.

I knew a guy like this in high school. I think 90% of the girls in my class had a crush on him at one time, me included. He was cute, but not drop dead gorgeous or anything; I think what he had was charm, was a little flirtatious but not overly so, and was really easy to talk to. I don't think he invited the attention, it just came naturally.
