Polyurethane condom question

Seeing as normal latex condoms are bad to carry in your wallet due to the heat from your ass slowly deteriorating the latex, is it okay to carry polyurethane condoms in your wallet without any problems?

You can carry a latex condom in your wallet without problems as long as it's not for more than a couple of days, I believe. I haven't seen anything on polyurethane ones, but better safe than sorry.

I believe it's the friction of sitting on the condom that does the damage, not the ass heat. I can't see why a polyurethane condom would hold up any better than latex under such conditions--or, at least, I wouldn't want to entrust my well-being or childlessness to a poly condom that had been treated like that.

With all the lube on the condom I highly doubt the little friction from the inside of your wallet could possibly due any damage. I've also never heard of latex breaking down at such low temperatures.

I guess it was just an old wives tale...

Umm... how hard are you listening?
Google Results 1 - 10 of about 47,000 for condom wallet damage

It's the heat too. High heat (above 20 C) and UV are both bad for latex.

Cedak: EVERYTHING breaks down at all temperatures, barring absolute zero (and even then, I'm not sure if they do or not). Heat just increases the speed of it generally.

I just checked the Durex Avanti box. It only says not to store them above 100°F. Does anyone have a latex condom box to compare warnings?

Just keep them in your bedside table and always bring her back to your place.

Unless random encounters in the lavatory or the public park is a problem for you.

I find it odd that the back of the Durex Avanti box says the risk of pregnancy/HIV/Aids is not known, a test is being done. Did this test ever finish? That kind of put me off a bit. Anyone had any problems?

Polyurethane condoms are more rigid than latex condoms and therefore slightly more prone to breakage.

strength is a misleading term, there are several different types of strength.

I don't get the idea of carrying a condom in your wallet. I've never kept condoms in my wallet or glove box and I've never had any problems. Maybe I'm just less adventerous than most in the sexual arena but if she's willing to have sex in a bathroom or the back seat of my car within hours of meeting I probably don't want to with her anyway. I've never been in a situation so desperate that I can't get home.

So, yeah. Keep them in your night stand and/or under the sink and you'll be fine. If that's an issue because you live with your folks or something.. I dunno. There's usually condom dispensers in the men's room at any bars I go to, just get one of them.

Don't take any chances here, we're talking about your sexual well being. An STD or unplanned pregnancy could very well affect you for the rest of your life and even cut it short.

Unless there's an allergy problem, stick to latex condoms. I think for now at least, polyurethane (Avanti included) should be a back-up plan.

I found the Durex brand really is terrible. The ones made by Trojan, however, are much, much better.

i just recently did a research assignment on the different types of condoms and in it i found that polyurethane condoms, may be stronger but they have not yet been proven to protect against STD's or been as successful as latex in protecting against pregnancy.*NB, in my research it said that it has not yet been proven, not saying that it is that way.

they are however not biodegradable as the latex and the ones made by trojan which are lambskin made from the natural membrane of lambskin.

i dont think that keeping a condom in your wallet is too bad just not for too long.
