should guys shave their armpits ?

why wud you?

or

why wudn't you ?

hmm?

Psycho Dad 12-18-2004 05:06 AM

Should they? I've not ever seen any reason that I should. However if someone wants to, what is it going to hurt? This is definitely one of those to each his own things.

gh0ti 12-18-2004 05:22 AM

I trim my pubes sometimes (they get just way to jungly for me). But I don’t think shaving my armpits would be comfortable at all. The itchy stubbly feeling would drive me mad.

dman2 12-18-2004 06:36 AM

I shave my forearms with a razor and trim with the clippers chest, legs and armpits. It just makes me feel better.

Homey_V 12-18-2004 06:41 AM

I'd need a Machete to trim my armpit hair down sooooo.... No thanks.

bing bing 12-18-2004 06:44 AM

i trim it close with scissors. that's all.

Tophat665 12-18-2004 06:45 AM

Ive done it before. It feels really neat, and it cuts down on Odor. However, it's such the stereotypically feminine thing to do that I get embarrassed if other folks notice it, so I don't do it anymore (yeah, I know. It's a quirk. I'll live with it.)

slimshaydee 12-18-2004 06:47 AM

I do ass and pubic region but not my armpits. Guys are just supposed to be hairy under there

cyrnel 12-18-2004 06:48 AM

Shaving no, trimming yes. What is it, 1mil smelly bacterium/inch of hair? Makes a big difference for those in the "furry" category.

fhqwhgads 12-18-2004 07:34 AM

I take the clippers to it on a regular basis, but I'd never considered shaving it bare. I like having it look groomed, but I still need to have hair there.

Suave 12-18-2004 09:28 AM

Nevah! I believe the hair in there is supposed to be beneficial to cooling for one thing, and it makes you look more hardcore macho to have a big tuft of thick black hair poking out of there in every direction too. :D

Irishsean 12-18-2004 09:54 AM

I trim it, my body hair below the neck is pretty blonde, so you wouldn't really notice the difference between 4 inches and 1 cm either...

Prince 12-18-2004 11:17 AM

Fuck should. I've shaved my pits a few times. It was pretty neat, less stinky.

Might do it again...didn't care for the itching.

AquaFox 12-18-2004 01:04 PM

i've wanted to do it... but it's one of those taboo things for guys.... it took me long enough to work my way to shaving my pubes, i don't think i could do my armpits...

Prince 12-18-2004 01:14 PM

lol. Why's it taboo? It's just armpit hair, for Christ's sake.

Rdr4evr 12-18-2004 01:57 PM

I trim my pits in the summer time, leave them normal all other seasons, I couldn't care less what others think about it.

snowy 12-18-2004 02:40 PM

From a female perspective...

If a guy can't keep himself clean and keep his odor down via soap, he should seriously consider shaving his body hair regardless of where it is.

If a guy can keep himself clean and is odor-free (stink free, to be more specific, as some guys have a smell that can be quite pleasant) then no, he should not shave his pits.

Really, it's a matter of preference...the guy should do what he feels comfortable doing.

tekaweni 12-18-2004 04:09 PM

Yeah its personal preference. I dont even shave my face regularly so Im definitely not looking for more areas to do.

If someone sees soap every day they shouldnt smell. And if they still do its probably more because of their diet or something, I doubt shaving armpits would make much difference.

AquaFox 12-18-2004 05:37 PM

i keep myself rather clean and i shower daily... soo i wouldn't really benefit from it, expecially now in the winter. maybe if we end up with a hot summer, i'll trim my armpits. i didn't completely shave my pubes until we got a really hot summer and you know how it sucks to be super hairy down there in the heat

winsecure 12-18-2004 07:59 PM

I've trimmed it down. never have shaved them bald... I've heard horror stories about trying to grow it back out if you take them bald.

AquaFox 12-18-2004 08:42 PM

to what length is normal or reccommended for trimming?

MSD 12-18-2004 10:48 PM

I just trim with scissors because it looks neater. I use good deodorant/antiperspirant, so I don't need to worry about smell.

westothemax 12-18-2004 10:58 PM

I haven't tried it and I don't see why I need to. I don't think girls *have* to shave either though. But, my girlfriend does shave her pits, because no matter what she does, she thinks she gets stinky after each day.

godxzilla 12-18-2004 11:17 PM

I also trim it with scissors....keeps things in check

Jonsgirl 12-19-2004 08:32 AM

Balls- yes
Armpits- no
Chest- yes

That's just how I like the hair on my guy :)

zombie_sympathi 12-19-2004 10:22 AM

guys should shave whatever they want. as should girls. personally, i never liked shaving, so i don't do it. it's not a character flaw or anything. =)

Zerakule 12-19-2004 02:36 PM

I've only shaved my armpits once, for a Halloween costume.
Let me just say that the stubble from my armpits hurt. Badly.
I had to lay down in my bed with my arms opened just to sleep.
But would I do it on a regular basis?
Nah. Too much trouble.

f6twister 12-20-2004 09:21 AM

Shaving my face everyday is enough of a pain in the ass so shaving elsewhere is out of the question. I see no benefit to it. I shower regularly, use deoderant and occasionally cologne and get good hygiene ratings on my reviews at work. I'm also not a big fan of razor burn and cuts.

Acetylene 12-21-2004 12:02 PM

Men are supposed to be hairy!

Jim Kata 12-21-2004 12:19 PM

I sweat a lot. I use anti perspirant/deodorant. Still sweat and stink. Because of this....everytime I take the clippers to my head (I cut my hair way short about once a month) I trim the armpits to help and try to eliminate the funky odor. It works.

So are women. Why else would they grow hair in their armpits (and legs) as well?

Ananas 12-21-2004 08:30 PM

I like a well-trimmed man. Wild forests growing out of a guy's armpits are not my cup of tea, especially when they're sweaty.

Shaved pits are too bad neither.

El Kaz 12-21-2004 09:03 PM

That's weird... I haven't really thought about it before, but now that I do, for some reason, armpits is probably the LAST region I would shave.

Fine with shaved balls, shaved chest wouldn't bother me much... but I try to picture my armpits shaved and it seems... feminine.
Feminine armpits? Riiight, I'm turning crazy

wgheow 12-22-2004 07:48 AM

hey buddies...thanks for the replies..they're really ncie and interesting...;) just dropping by to say thanks for posting your views :)

Totally agree. Taboo? I think that might even be the wrong word. Unusual perhaps, but then so is hanging out in TFP! :) :)

Anyway, I've shaved my pits, used Neet on my pits, and even (yow!) waxed my pits, and it is a pretty cool thing to do. In fact, for a halloween costume one year, I removed all hair below my neck entriely. Amazing, and I'd do it again in a second. If you haven't tried it, you should.

Peace,

Pierre

REALESTATEGUY 12-22-2004 02:53 PM

shaving pits

My girlfriend likes that I shave my pits. The arm pit hair is a turn off to her. It holds your sweat and increases body odor. So in my world...it works to my advantage to shave the pits

omega2K4 12-22-2004 07:40 PM

I might try getting them waxed, I don't know about shaving. The stubble would drive me crazy throughout the day.

la petite moi 12-22-2004 08:03 PM

First of all, I have to say that it's 'would', unlike your spelling.

Secondly, nwlinkvxd did this and said the prickles pissed him off. Plus he said he sweated more.

Thirdly, I think guys look better with pithair. It just looks too silly when there's nothing there.

Mephisto2 12-22-2004 08:16 PM

No.

I also dislike the baby oil, smooth chest look on guys that seems to popular in America. Of course, it could be because I have a hairy chest!

Mr Mephsito

Rdr4evr 12-22-2004 08:19 PM

Mephisto, Unfortunately American women love guys that look like girls. I too have a hairy chest and my ex loved it, but most women prefer it hairless, and I'm not shaving it for anybody.
