It just struk me after a few choice images on the web that there are alot of ....breasts. It struck me at just an odd moment, and I really wonder - what is the appeal? I got a pair of my own, and they are not THAT facinating. Actually they are rather nusciance sometimes -getting achey and sore and throwing out my back -

I've had the same thought from time to time myself. I think it's just built in for men to like the way they look or something, there doesn't seem to be any "why."

For me, it's the curvature. The lines are just.. alluring. Granted, not all breasts are appealing to look at, but the ones that are.. it's not about the size, just the aesthetics.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that most babies are breastfed. Subconsciously, we relate a woman's breasts to the glorious time we spent feeding off our mother's breasts. I guess it kind of goes along the lines of the whole Oedipus complex. Just my two cents.

they look somewhat like asses did when we were on all fours. the ass was very much changed by walking upright, and having permanent breasts, instead of just when nursing, seems to be an adaptation to recreate that sexual signal.

I just happen to like them. Do I need a reason beyond that?

i must say that i too love boobs, ..... :| really no reason coming to mind. In fact i want to see some right now.

They feel really nice. Looking at them brings about thoughts of touching them, although there's plenty of appeal that doesn't seem explainable.

Some men have breasts.... but dont like to have them.
I personally think it is just like a womans bum but it is semi legal to show the breasts off.

You're talking like it's some kind of conscious thing. Why do you like cocks (assuming you do - insert an appropriate piece of anatomy here if not)?

I said this exact same thing to a lady I've known for 15 years, and she hates me to this day because of it. She took it to mean that its something men want to selfishly 'add to their collection', a form of dominance, or ownership.

Why do you need a reason? Boobs are boobs. Guys love them. Big or small. They complete a woman's body. In conclusion, boobs are cool.

Just to add another thought to what others have already said that I agree with, to some guys, myself included, it's also the idea of banging a female and having them bounce all over the place out of control. They're just so sexual along with being so sensual.

Yay for the female perspective of power relations and gender stratification getting blown WAY out of proportion.

Not all breasts look nice; not to me anyway. A nice slim tone body with a pair of breasts attached is awsome, though.

I think it harkens back to our primal days. To perpetuate the species, the male wanted to choose a mate that was going to stand a higher percentage chance of nurturing the young to maturity. And that goes beyond the breast to other physical features that we still tend to find attractive today, such as rounded hips (that indicate being able to pass a child through the birth canal).

Then again, I just find that I like to play with ‘em.

Sorry, I can't offer any particularly profound insights. I guess I'm just biologically programmed to find them attractive.

Sometimes I do wonder though how a creature who is completely alien would view our bodies and physical sexual cues and behaviours, and what we would think of theirs. I guess that leads right back into the original question...

I have to agree with Halx...they're just nice to look at...the curves...mmm. Top them with a nice set of nips and we're talking business. It's an aesthetic thing.

I'm with you - I have them (and I like to play with mine) and I still find them appealing on other women.

There are aesthetic reasons - they're good to look at.
There are psychoanalytic reasons - they remind us of that time when we were the center of the universe and all there was was us and this warm, soft, pillowy person who fed us.
There are evolutionary reasons - most mammals have sex from behind, so rear presentation is important. When humans started walking upright and having sex from the front, breasts evolved to mimic bum cleavage. No joke, saw it on the Discovery Channel, so it must be true. ;)

I don't think it's that hard to understand - they're soft, they're fun to touch and stroke and suck on, they give the other person pleasure. I absolutely love boobies. A good, round, perky b-cup is just perfect.

It must be something sunconscious, but I don't know enough about it to make sense of that.

Aesthetics? Sure, they look really nice, I don't know why. Mind you, I like lots of body parts. You could rightfully ask the same question about asses as you did about boobs, so what's the attraction there? Same thing I guess.

Still, an attractive woman showing her breasts remains a turn on for me and for most men (and many women as illustrated in this thread!), and the reason is not important.

Some things defy analysis, others just don't require it. Here is something that fits both, just love them!

I heard somewhere that mean like breast because clevage reminds them of butts and having sex.

I like them because, well, I just do...

Psycho Dad and others nailed the psychological, evolutionary reasons.

Nobody likes psychoanalysis anymore anyway.

So we adapted to like the way they made women's bodies look, and now we like curves and whatnot.
