birth control question
Ok, my partner has been on the pill for two weeks and a day ago we had unprotected sex. I did not orgasm in her. I am freaking out that she is pregnant. I have talked to several of my friends that say not to worry about it. They say it takes a month for the pill to be fully effective. Then one of her friends told her that she was in the same situation and went to the doctors for the morning after pill. The doctor told her that the pill actually becomes effective after two weeks but they say to wait a month being going unprotected just to be safe. Now also I know that women usually ovulate in the middle of their cycle. Well the night i slept with her is exactly the middle of her cycle. What are the chances of her being pregnant?

There is a moderate chance of her being pregnant. While the pill becomes more effective as it is taken, the reason she is supposed to wait for an entire cycle to pass is so it becomes as effective as possible. Also, just because you didn't orgasm inside of her doesn't keep you safe. Guys always have some leakage during intercourse which, unless you are sterile or have undergone a vacectomy, contains semen.
Another thing to remember...the pill is not a guarantee. Plenty of women have become pregnant while on the pill. If you are having penis to vagina intercourse, you are never fully protected from getting the woman pregnant.

The pill works by not allowing ovulation to occur. If she was in the middle of her cycle, and then started the pills, then there is a good chance that she could ovulate, and thus could be prego. have her get tested for sure.. but urine preg tests often need at least a week of time before there is enough hormone to be detected.

First of all, your partner should read the instructions that come with the package.
Second, a girl is normally advised to start taking the pill for the first time on the Sunday after she starts her period. I have only been on the pill since July. My b/f (a typical man ) could not wait to start having sex. We also had sex two weeks after I started taking the pill, only he did ejaculate. I am sitting here today not pregnant. Now, I'm not saying that your partner isn't pregnant, because it does take a full month for the pill to be "incontrol" of the female body. However, I think the best advise for you is to talk about the situation with your partner. See if she feels the same way you do. If she thinks she is pregnant, then get a pregnancy test, but if she thinks that you are just freaking out, then you are probably doing just that freaking out. Best of luck to you!!

It's a pretty low chance, but the chance is there. If you want to do everything possible to prevent pregnancy, and she is willing to take the morning after pill, then get it.
And, learn from this! In the future, do everything possible during the heat of passion to prevent pregnancy... then you'll never have to feel this type of worry again. |
