Sore Throat and Oral Sex
 

Last night and today my throat has been feeling pretty bad. I don't know what it is, but whenever I am sick, my girl seems to get super horny...maybe because I am vulnerable and that turns her on or something. What I want to know is, would it be a bad idea for me to go down on her? You think I spread whatever I have down there on her?

I don't really see any problem with it from my understanding, but what I've been taught is any transferrence of bodily fluid's can transmit viruses of that nature. So I know I really didn't help you, but lets wait and see what some others say, lol.

It depends on the disease; you'd probably want to look it up on a medical site of some sort. If you have a cold sore though, definitely don't, because you can give her genital herpes that way.

Alright, this is how I see it. The majority of the diseases listed above can be transmitted from genitals to genitals, mouth to genitals, genitals to mouth, and mouth to mouth.

So, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for you to pass on whatever bacteria/virus is in your throat/mouth to her through contact with her genitals. Can you wait until you're not sick to go down on her? Better safe than sorry, no?

I'm in my first year medicine so have a bit of a knowledge base on STI's (Sexually Transmitted Infections).

The common STI's are: Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Syphilis.

The bacteria that cause these infections are not normal microflora of the mouth (Humans have resident bacteria that actually help fend off the bad guys, present on skin, and mucosal surfaces - this includes mouth, nose, vagina, etc.)

The resident microflora should not cause any infections (our immune systems are strong when we're healthy).

Hopefully you know if you or your partner have any of these infections.. (You shouldn't if you use protection, and neither of you don't sleep around, etc.)

Suave is right. If you have a cold sore you shouldn't go down on her. Cold sores are caused by a virus (Herpes Simplex) and can cause genital herpes upon contact.

If all you have is a simple cold, you should be alright... What sort of symptoms do you have?

It started with a dry sore throat Friday night and all day yesterday. It hurt to swallow and talk. That problem is gone....but it has moved on to my nose running and sneezing, and when I swallow the part where (this probably won't make sense) but the part where the snot drips into my throat from my nose meets my throat/mouth (told ya) hurts when I swallow but that didn't bother me before.
