Vibrators and vaginal health
My spouse has got a few yeast infections as of late. Seems as though they may be related to vibrator use. Could we not have throughly scrubbed it clean before use? or could lots of vibration cause issues. Now she is hesitant to put it inside and we have done outside stimulation to see if that helps.
What is proper care and usage of a vibrator? Not sure if this topic should be in health and fitness? |
Scrub it with soap and warm water, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol to kill anything that's left on it. The probelm is most likely reinsertion of bacteria. Make sure everything is cleared up before she starts using it again otherwise you risk spreading bacteria inside or creating microscopic abrasions that can become infected by those bacteria.

Soap with break down the rubber and could also cause irritation. They have cleaners for them.

Depends on the kind of vibrator/dildo. Most come with cleaning instructions ranging from soap and warm water to dish washing and sometimes more proprietary (expensive) cleaners. The best bet is to check the packaging, or if that's gone then checking the manufacturer/distributors website.

yeast infections aren't caused entirely by vibrator use by any stretch... there are plenty 'o reasons why she may be getting them lately than before. Check all possible causes first :) But i'm sure if you take proper care of your toy, no problems at all ? :)

another option is to use condoms on the vibrators, I'm recommend cleaning them throughly as well but it could be another way of helping things stay clean

We usually put condoms on our toys as well. No troubles as of late.
