I'm assuming your a guy, so basically what you do is pee in a cup, and they might take some blood depending on the STD they are testing for. First they will ask you questions about your sexual history to determine what STD's you would be succeptable (sp?) to.

you pee in a cup and get a needle in the arm, they rarely stick the swap in your cack, don't worry 'bout it

Old signature just wasn't doing it for me anymore, so now I have this new one. It's equally as stupid but at least it looks really long. I'm probably just going to keep typing until I run out of things to babble about and see how many people actually read this. I once ran down a hill, fell down and hurt my elbow; my mom said I would be ok, she kissed it and made it all better. I've run out of things to say now, so if you have read this whole thing, congratulations you get a gold star! |

I got tested about 6 or 8 months ago. First they ask you some questions about your history. How recently you've had sex, how many partners, ever had sex with a male, if you use protection, what diseases you're inocuated against, etc. They took a cotton swab and swabbed the tip of my penis (they didn't stick it right in there), looked closely for visible sores, pubic lice, etc. Then they gave me a little cup and I went to the bathroom, pissed in it (nobody watched or stood guard, this was a voluntary thing). Then gave it back to the nurse. She then took a little vial of blood and gave me a jelly bean.
Ten days later or so they called me back in there and told me the results. Everything was fine for me, and that was the end of it. If there's something wrong, if you test positive for something, they would have told me in person and then given me my options. I hope that's detailed enough for you and that you aren't too nervous about goin. You should definately go and get tested, it's really not a big deal. It took me half an hour at the most. With your next partner, she won't (or shouldn't) just trust that you're clean because you say so, and if she says she is, that's great, but wear protection anyway. If it becomes serious between you and her then get tested together. Getting tested doesn't mean you don't trust your partner, as an ex-girlfriend of mine thought. It means you want everything to be safe for the both of you |

I got an AIDS test about 8 years ago. If you go to a public place (free) then prepare to get the "Scared Straight" treatment. They call you in for the results and the guy will act all like doom and ask you something like your age, and then shake his head like you have AIDS, and tell you the results. Then they may give you rubbers and tell you the stats of STDs in your locality. This was in N. Va I dunno about other places.

blahblah454 - going there with your friend and then-partner is a great idea. You'll both be less nervous and you'll be able to support each other no matter what the consequences.
Look up a sexual health centre near you, but if you can't find one then just call up any doctor's clinic and ask them where you can go. I know some regular doctors do it, some don't where I live. It's really nothing to be nervous about, but I know that someone else saying that isn't much help You'll see it's not too big a deal at all. Once you've done it this time you'll have no problems doing it next time |
