What is the difference...Sex vs. say a pedicure
Maybe this is a semantics issue but I just wonder....
We can pay for a pedicure, manicure, visit to a shrink, a haircut, a massage, many things but you cant pay for sex. Just curious because I see no difference being a man who does not confuse love with sex and viewing sex as a pleasurable experience as well as reproductive...why cant you pay for it and another question why is sex cheating but other physical services are not. I KNOW...this a bit silly but maybe a few of you could see what I am saying/questioning. |
because the norms of society that many of us live in were originally defined by western religious beleifs, and one of the strongest western religious restrictions is the acceptability of sexuality and it's level of appropriateness in differing situations.

To sort of quote Eurotrip, "The United States was founded by prudes."

Though I love explaining to my out-of-state wife how most of the local customs (central PA) can be traced back to pagan roots for when Pennsylvania was settled as a religiously tolerant colony. Oh how times have changed. |
It's like asking why we wear clothing! It has become a social norm to cover our parts. Sex can spread diseases by just doing it once- whereas, a pedicure/manicure/haircut/visit to a shrink can't. Also, it can cause pregnancies, where the others can not.

you can legally pay for sex in australia, but it has to be at a brothel not a hooker on the corner.
