Best time to have sex to avoid pregnancy? I hear a lot of differnt thoughts and I just want to get it straightened up.
|
Uh, never if you want to be 100% accurate...
Just have her get on some sort of birth control, trust me, it's so much better than having to plan on when you can have sex and when you cant. |
Or use a Condom. Here's some statistics:
(Periodic Abstinence is the Sympto-thermal Method which uses body temp to determine if you have ovulated) Actual vs. Theoretical Failure Rates for Various Birth Control Methods Method Actual Failure Theoretical Failure Rate Chance 85% 85% Spermicides only 21% 3% Periodic Abstinence 20% 2 - 9% Withdrawal 18% 4% (pulling out) Cervical Cap 18% 6% Diaphragm 18% 6% Condom 12% 2% IUD 3% 0.8 - 2% Oral Contraceptive Pill 3% 0.1% Injected Depo-Provera 0.3% 0.3% Female Sterilization 0.4% 0.2% (Tubal Ligation) Male Sterilization 0.2% 0.1% (Vasectomy) Levonorgestrel Implants 0.04% 0.04% (Norplant) Method Actual Failure Theoretical Failure Rate Taken from http://www.ecofuture.org/pk/pkbc01.html |
Those statistics are intriguing
but i think he was asking what time of month to have sex WITHOUT contraceptave will yield the least results... to that i have to say dont chance it... just wear a condom or get her on birth control... or both... just be on the safe side if you dont want a kid |
The description on my Oral Contraceptive pills says that there's less chance of pregnancy the first and last week (there a 3 week period between the periods). But the point is there's still a chance of pregnancy so not using some sort of birth control is just plain stupid.

That reminds me of a joke---
What do they call a woman who uses the 'rhythmn method' ? Mommy |
I agree with Nancy - unless you want to risk becoming a parent nine months from now, buy birth control. Even just condoms is a good start - you don't ever want to have unprotected sex unless you're looking to knock her up.
But sure, if you don't want to get her pregnant, have sex while she's on her period. ;) |
Robert Heinlein was adamant in some of his novels that, to prevent pregnancy, you should abstain on the fourteenth and fifteenth days of the woman's cycle.
. . . That, from a science fiction writer who was also a lecherous old man. Go to your local Planned Parenthood office and get her on the pill. |
