http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/facts/condoms.htm
"A number of studies, however, do show an association between condom use and a reduced risk of HPV-associated diseases, including genital warts, cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer. The reason for lower rates of cervical cancer among condom users observed in some studies is unknown. HPV infection is believed to be required, but not by itself sufficient, for cervical cancer to occur. Co-infections with other STDs may be a factor in increasing the likelihood that HPV infection will lead to cervical cancer. More research is needed to assess the degree of protection latex condoms provide for both HPV infection and HPV-associated disease, such as cervical cancer. " |

If we must conceal it why are we posting about it here? sillygirl -- of course it the researchers were men. They likely had just had their brains sucked out through their willies.

Oh well, we're all going to get cancer anyway, why not get it while doing something you enjoy.
"What happened to you?" "Smoked too much, got lung cancer. You?" "Ate too much pussy, got mouth cancer" I think we know who got the better end of the deal. |

Guys guys guys...no need for alarm. All this is saying is that if you have oral sex, you are more likely to get an STD of the mouth and therefor your risk of cancer goes up (disease is correlated to cancer risk.) HPV is a very common and often undiagnosed STD that comes in many forms. Supposedly 1/4th of adults have it.

As someone who is an expert in oral diseases by training I have to say this isn't a big deal.
Tabacco is by FAR the leading cause of oral cancer. While the article doesn't mention the frequency of oral cancer related to oral sex, I'd be more worried about getting killed by a shark armed with lasers. Also a lot of important info wasn't put in the story, such as how the controls were set up. If anyone has a link to the copy of the paper I'd like to read it.

Anyone with a little reading comprehension should be able to smell the bullshit from that article a mile off.
STDs can cause tumours. STDs are normally located in the groin. Therefore, don't blow or eat someone with an STD. I don't know about the rest of you, but I wasn't doing that in the first place. Fucking spindoctor journalists. (Sorry, I'm a little sour.)

Just in case anyone is actually believing this you might want to know.
"Oral sex can lead to oral tumours" <- This statement cannot be made as a conclusion of this research because correlations do not imply causation. "That is the conclusion of researchers who have proved what has long been suspected, that the human papilloma virus can cause oral cancers" <- This is another example of a statement that cannot be made as a conclusion of the research due to the lack of internal validity associated with this research. The best part to this statement is that the scientists proved something. If I am not mistaken in all the years of science scientists have never 'proved' a hypothesis. "The researchers think both cunnilingus and fellatio can infect people's mouths" <- these researchers have a good thing going for them because they are obviously getting some good money to make unfounded statements. I feel bad for whoever gave these researchers a grant. |
