Condoms and Breakage
 

If a condom breaks during sex (btw, don't ever use Trojan Supras, they may feel better, but even with lubrication the one we were using broke), what options do we have to prevent conception? This happened less than 5 minutes ago, and it's an emergency.

Try the morning after pill, supposed to prevent pregnancy if something like that happens. From what I hear, It's very effective. You can read more about it at this link:

Calculate when she had her last period. When I went on the pill I asked him when did it start taking effect , and he told me immediatly. I was also told by him that chances of getting pregnant are slimmer in the 1 to 14 days after having your period. I would safely say 1 to 10 days because every woman is different , but thats not saying that she cant get pregnant in that time.

Do the morning after pill to be safe. Samething happened to me and a friend and she took the pill and everything was fine after.

I fifth the morning after pill...you've got 48-72 hours but the sooner the better, call a planned parenthood.

Yes, go to planned parenthood. I would do this no matter when your last period was.

The morning after pill is the way to go. Just keep in mind this is going to be hell for your partner.

The pill, essentially, forces the woman to go through her menstral cycle right away. Not too comfortable.

Of course, there is also the option to have a kid. A condom broke on me just about 10 years ago... I now have a nine year old son.

Be careful if the girl takes the morning after pill, it will make her very sick. It's basically regular birth control medication, but in a uber-concentrated dosage.

I say morning after pill, but yes expect her to feel like crap. I had a friend of mine after having sex with her BF go and take a morning after pill and she felt horribly sick, but she's glad she did it cause you never know.

Actually, some people don't get any nausea at all, it varies from person to person...

But hey, even if it does make her sick, thats a small price to pay!

And at the very least, she'll wuv you like crazy for taking care of her until the side-effects wear off.

According to the folks at my campus sexual health resource center, Trojans have the highest failure rate. They carry every brand but them for that reason.

Morning after pill. Or be prepared to be called pappy. But since you're asking, you're definitely not ready.

Of course, the highest failure rate could just be because they have the highest purchase rate. I think. It makes sense to me.

Failure rate should be independent of the number of purchases.

It could be because there is something different about the kind of people who buy Trojans -- but I don't know how likely that is.

it's possible that Trojan is the most widely advertised brand, so the people who buy it aren't always the ones who use them properly...

I'm in Charlatan's boat....2 1/2 year old daughter and loving every minute of it. Condom broke, it was a big scare at the time....let things go and forgot about it. She got sick about a month later, went to the doctor and they told her "Congrats!!" She was scared shitless. After calming down, we decided to go for it (we had already been engaged for about 4 months) and got maried 2 months later. Best time of my life so far.

i usually use the trojan ultra ribbed... i heard on loveline once that the ribbed had the lowest failure rate... *shrug*

Bammo...just a ring..no condom left at all...You can't even find the rest, you just have the little base left...

no morning after pill at the time...though i guess you'd call it the afternoon after pill...but still...nothing beats the shock of looking down and realizing you spilled your seed inside the warm inviting home of all mankind...

And yeah..TROJANS SUCK, but then again, so do some durex condoms..Durex just burns...bad bad, trojans break..even worse

Out of curiosity, what kind of lube? Oil-based liquids (that includes most lotions, vaseline, etc.) chemically tear apart condoms.

And not to point fingers, but most condom accidents are caused by the users, not the condom. That's why the labels say it's 99% effective *IF* used correctly. There are a lot of people out there who think they know how to use condoms.

Just had the same condom break on me about 5 min ago... Don't buy Trojan Supras.
