moonstrucksoul 01-18-2004 10:45 PM

not as bad as you would think, just take it easy, get it done on a friday or right before you have a few days off. chill out with an ice-pack an try not to excite yourself. mine was painless. then reep the reward after your follow up appointment when they tell you that it was a total sucess. worry free sex, as long as you are in a monogamous relationship. :) ;)

GakFace 01-18-2004 11:05 PM

I knew I had seen thread about this before. I just searched for "Vasectomy" with the search function on these here boards. Here are some useful ones to read.

Also this first one is by Clavus. A man known to be imfortative, yet very comical in it. Make sure to read his, you'll love it. I glanced through each of these tho, and each has some knowledge about it. Read up and be happy!

ROFL!!! Your were right! Everyone read the first link! lol

Prince 01-19-2004 06:47 AM

Wow... Is a vasectomy common in America?

jbrooks544 01-19-2004 09:50 AM

Wear a jock strap for a couple weeks. Don't let 'em swing and dangle until they are nice and healed up. If you have little tykes that jump in your lap a lot then put the "cup" in and you will be 100% protected. Don't try to re-roof the house for a few days after. Take a couple days off and rent a lot of movies. No need to be afraid. I didn't have any real "pain" .

bonehed1 01-19-2004 10:06 AM

ROFL...I almosted pee'd in my pants at work reading Clavus' post. That was hella funny but also painful at the sametime.

saleenobsessed 01-19-2004 11:23 AM

Ace_O_Spades 01-22-2004 04:26 PM

I thought about making the cut but I still worry about future side effects. I've read there's no proven link to prostate or testicular cancers but hey, I'm dealing with my junk here. Brave of you, those that have done it.

I recently got cut and my urologist explained the link between the higher incidence of prostate cancer (and also a higher incidence of heart disease) - apparently the typical man who undergoes a vasecotmy is more affluent and has better health insurance than men who don't. There isn't really a higher incidence, there is a higher rate of detection due to generally better medical care - what those studies neglect to mention is that there is also a higher rate of successful treatment and recovery from prostate cancer and heart disease among men who have vasectomys.

BTW it was SO not a big deal...

I called today to make my appointment too!! I should be sperm free by mid Feb!! Wooooooooohoooooooooooo

Redlemon 01-23-2004 12:35 PM

Dilbert1234567 01-23-2004 04:54 PM

I知 thinking of getting this done, I知 not planning on having kids for a good long while (I知 19 maybe when I知 27 to 32)

Should I freeze them now? Or have the surgery reversed when I知 ready?

bubbaspike 01-23-2004 05:01 PM

Well, I'm done. It's been six hours now, and I'll tell ya, it wasn't
that bad. I'm just glad it's over with.
No real pain at all.

WarWagon 01-23-2004 05:06 PM

Hey bud, congrats, give it a while, then go and enjoy ;-)

At 19, I doubt you'll find an ethical urologist who will do you. The reversal rate is only about 45% and for this sort of surgery, most urologists will probably tell you that you are too young to make this decision. If in vitro/freezing is cost effective, you may be able to pull it off, but I doubt you'll find anyone who will do you before your late 20s.

absorbentishe 01-26-2004 08:03 AM

Dilbert1234567 , you won't find a uroligist that will do this. A guy at work tried this with several dr's, and none would do it, all stating the same reason. Just pony up and buy the condoms, you'll be fine. Reversals do not work that well at all.

thlayli 01-30-2004 04:10 PM

I got mine scheduled for the end of Feb. Not really scared, but I'm not looking forward to the shaving part.

absence_of_color 01-30-2004 04:29 PM

I love to read Clavus' posts.

He is very amuzing.

And congrats bubbaspike on the no pain, all gain surgery.
May you cum in peace. *all puns intended*

bubbaspike 01-31-2004 11:22 AM

It's been a week now.
I'm glad to say I'm back in the saddle again.
For those of you who are scared to have this done, like I was,
don't be. Best $300.00 I ever spent.

lt1tech 10-12-2004 04:00 PM

Not painful and the Verset they give you is worth all the trouble. I was so freakin high when I woke up, it was great. I reccomend everyne get one done when they are done having kids. Balls to the Wall bros.

retroboy 10-12-2004 07:21 PM

This is very goodinfo...i have an appointment later this month....snip...snip

rdg_wrangler 10-14-2004 04:14 AM

Had mine done 10 years ago and it was a piece of cake. A little sore for a couple of days but an ice pack helped.

pmkuon 10-14-2004 10:35 AM

Had one. Not too bed. Got divorced, new wife wanted kids. Had reversal. Hurt like a MF. Now had kid. Wife wants repeat. Told her NFW.

br00n 10-15-2004 01:22 PM

Reversals....yes...well, reversals are micro-surgery. Having has the complete lack of foresight in a previous life I got snipped...then got divorced...life deals out some pretty ironic situations from time to time...

So, then I met someone new and wished like hell I wasn't snipped...so I had a reversal. I can tell you first hand that walking around for six weeks with your balls in a sling is no joke...I was black and blue from knees to my navel.

It was all going swimmingly until our dog jumped up and hit me in the ...err...sling...needless to say I hit the ground like a ton of bricks and lay there trying to catch my breath...

Result...the first reversal failed. Notice I said 'first'...yes...after all the pain and swelling I waited six months and went back in for another attempt at the reversal...

Second time, same brusing, same pain, heavier duty sling...and after what seemed like FOREVER the sling came off, the tests were done and now we have kids...

Life is good, odd but good...

My advice...don't snip...wear condoms, pull out early, wank, blow what ever oils yer tool, work it out with your partner there are plenty of creative ways to ahve sex without getting pregnant but save the snip until you're so old that kids are a bad idea.

Sure, you can get a reversal...if you're into PAIN and more PAIN...followed by yet MORE PAIN...

Thursday is the big day

Thursday is the big day. Any words of encouragement or discourgagement?

ncgti 10-20-2004 06:30 AM

I had it done 12 years ago. The "momentary" pain is worth the years of worry free, no contraceptive, skin-to-skin, spontaneous sexual pleasure for you and your SO

jonnyjonski 10-20-2004 11:49 AM

I had it done 5 years ago and the end result is worry free sex and a more intense finish! Not much pain but the bloody shots while you're "Cleaning the system" are a bit freaky!

Good luck!

Val_1 10-20-2004 12:15 PM

I had mine done about four or five years ago. Very glad I had it done. Not much pain and I feel much more relaxed during sex. The freakist part of the entire experience was during the procedure, though. You're given a local anesthetic (like novacane) and, while it kills the pain of the part they are working on, you can feel the effects in other parts of you body. They have to tug on the van defferance (sp?) a bit to get it out so they can work on it, and you can't feel it were they are tugging, but you can feel it being tugged up inside you. That freaked me out. I'm normally a very quit guy, but I think I said quite loudly, "Little more anesthetic, Doc! I felt that". It's funny now. Plus, it gives me a story to tell at the bars.

slandsman01 10-20-2004 02:37 PM

You guys aren't helping any. My balls just retreated into my body.

slandsman01 10-25-2004 08:39 AM

I had mine done last thursday. It went well. The local felt like someone was pushing my balls in. But, after that I felt nothing. The entire procedure took 25 minutes. My doctor said it went as well as it could have (I bet he says that to all the boys).

That night and the next day, the pain I felt was in my lower abdomen. Not sharp, but just noticable dull pain. On Saturday, my balls started to turn blue and huge. They only hurt if I was not wearing briefs and if they hit.

Today, monday, any pain in my abdomen is almost gone and my balls are coming down in size. They are tender, not a sharp pain, if my legs brush the wrong way.

Overall, not as bad as I expected. The worst was the fears I generated prior to the procedure.

booyah1 10-25-2004 07:06 PM

I cant see my balls, they have gotten very afraid LOL!!

I plan on doing this, but isnt the worst part is when they pull the Vas. (tube?) to cut it? Doesnt it feel like someone kicked in the balls---Thats what I have heard?? Everyone on here seems like its no problem at all.....

slandsman01 10-27-2004 07:22 AM

The shaving took place b/4 the local. Not to comfortable. When they give you the local it feel like someone has kicked you in the balls, very lightly. I wiggled my toes a lot. Most of all I had a lot of anxiety. A local in my jaw by a dentist was worse. My doctor, during the procedure, kept asking me if I felt anything. Luckily I didn't. Even though I didn't, I was still very anxious. I did not feel any tugging or pulling. I guess he did it right. He also told me that it went as well as expected. Sometime, I guess, it can be difficult to locate the vas and get it out. They only make a tiny, tiny cut. By the time it is all healed up it won't be any noticealbe. About 1/2 way through the procedure I started to relax and realized that I am laying down during the day, what a nice treat (have to surgar coat it somehow). My advice, find a doctor that you feel comfortable with. I looked around for nearly 2 years. And, lay low for a couple of days with a bag of frozen peas on your area. It will keep the swelling down. I told my son that I hurt my leg at work. He said that frozen peas will make it feel better. Any hoo, don't worry, the bark is worse than the bite with this procedure.

SCrubjay 10-27-2004 08:35 AM

This is the perfect time of the year for a vasectomy! Really, I'm not kidding. My urologist, who is also a good friend, recomended that I wait until the fall and have the procedure on a Friday. His "prescription" to me, actually written up to my wife, was that I HAD to sit in a recliner all weekend (and watch football) with a "cold compress" between my legs to relieve the swelling. The actual "compress" perscribed was ice cold Corona cerveza. Made the recovery very enjoyable!
