I remember hearing in health class (sex ed.) that for some reason (i've forgotten now :o ) the left testicle always hangs lower than the right?

No, it's not any kind of deformity, i am sure there was some reason for it. Anyway, somehow this sprang to my mind just now when i took a piss, and although i've checked numerous times before, yep the left was lower :p

Just thought i'd conduct a small poll about it though, out of morbid curiosity :crazy: :D

So, if you're a guy (or have testicles :lol: ), next time you take a piss or whenever you're nude let us know the stauts

Also if anyone would let us know why such a phenomonen occurs :)

edit: i am making the assumption that people have 2 testicles...

I thought I knew it all, but BuDDaH enlightened me about this.

First, the balls HANG from the body because the optimal sperm producing temp is 2 degrees below body temp. They adjust their height accordingly. That much I knew.

Now the reason one hangs lower than the other is this... one ball produces the sperm while the other incubates them, thus requiring a different temperature.

Whodathunkit?

so then the question is, does one side always product and the other incubate or is it "random"?

Just wondering, how much of a difference is it between the left and the right? I don´t have testicles so I wouldn´t really know

I voted right cuz sometimes my left testicle rises, no idea why.

having them at difference levels also helps decrease the chance of crushing them between your thighs.

Maybe my semen factory isn't quite up to snuff.... cuz my boys always seem to be at the same level.

Sperm is produced in each testicle concurrently. It is stored in the epididymis.

From what I understand of male genital anatomy and physiology, Bermuda's right. The testes hang at different levels to minimize injury from getting crushed between the thighs.

My right is lower, does that mean I'm right testicled?

speaking of which.. my right one always pulls up into my pelvis when I oragasim and the left one dosen't, it just hangs there... you know like when its FREEZING fucking cold outside and your nuts like hide up there behind yer pubes... ... its kinda odd.. kinda not... any ideas?? that natural?? My left but when very aroused they both love to hide up under the skin so they disappear and act like a pair of lumps to be crushed when she is on top:crazy:

Now this is not really a reason and I don't know if it true or not but in high school I heard that right handed people have the left testicle hanging lower and left handed people have the right hanging lower. The truth is I don't know. I will say this we asked a bunch of our friends and the theory seamed to ring true the right handed people had a lower left and the left handed people had a lower right testicle so I don't know. It could be just one of those wired things or it could be total bull shit I don't know but it is interesting.

I'd be interested to know the number of people who are lower-right-testicled and left-handed, compared to those who are lower-left-testicled and right-handed.

I'm lower-right-testicled and left-handed myself and noticed there is a co-relation between the percentages on the polls to the proportion of left/right handed population.

I'll take my clipboard out on the town tomorrow and get back to you with the results....

The left spermatic cord is rather longer than the right, consequently the left testis hangs somewhat lower than its fellow. The spermatic cord's external aspect varies under different circumstances: thus, under the influence of warmth, and in old and debilitated persons, it becomes elongated and flaccid; but, under the influence of cold, and in the young and robust, it is short, corrugated, and closely applied to the testes.

If you look at the diagram you can see that where the spermatic cord exits the penis it spits into two cords. One which turns to go straight down to the testis the other to go on a more convoluted path, consequently longer.

It's 8 degrees outside right now, and it's almost noon. Neither are hanging at all.

Actually my left buddy is around 20% smaller than the right buddy. I had it checked, but everything seems normal.

My right nut hangs lower than my left nut. Whenever it is cold, they're pretty level.

I'd imagine which brain hemisphere is dominant plays a strong role in determining which testicle hangs lower. I have a hard time believing that the left testicle "always" hangs lower, just like I would have a hard time believing someone that said people are ALWAYS right handed, or right-eye dominant. (I'm right-handed, but left-eye dominant.)

Maybe it will be more interesting if you state which hangs lower and whether you are right-handed or left-handed?

And since I cannot partake in this poll, (seeing as how it's completely sexist :P ) my left labia minora hangs lower than my right.

Yes it is natural, its been years since HS health class, but as I remember from watching a video about the reproductive organs in the class. The reason why your ballz shrink and expand due to cold and hot because they "seem to have a mind of their own,"
I was told after the video. Just like a person when he/she is cold, he/she will curl up to conserve as much heat as possible, and will let loose when its hot to release as much heat as possible, the ballz work like that too.

i'm a rightie, just thinking though, perhaps it's to insure a higher level of fertile sperm? If one hangs lower than the other than it's reasonable to assume in warm weather one set of boys is a cooler tempurature than the other. Just a guess.

Did any of you guys read the explanation I posted? If you doubt that info I can get other sources.

Last I checked testicles were not a physiological equivalent of "boobies." I suggest you take a human sexuality, human development, biology, or physiology class.
