Poll on female condom (for my human sexuality class) - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I watched an introductory video in human sexuality and as part of the assignment I must "do." I have to take action. So, I'm going to poll you guys.

To clarify: This poll is for both genders. If you have had sexual intercourse that utilizes a female condom, then you've tried it.

Explanation of answers is helpful. (I won't have to draw conclusions based on my own assumptions.)

I've only had sex once with a female condom, I didn't like it at all. It was kinda like fucking a plastic bag.

What's the point? I know that it is supposed to empower women by allowing them to 'take control and protect themselves during sex', but it seems like it is still a lot easier for a girl to just stop and put a regular condom on the person they are about to have sex with.

Besides, if you are trying to prevent pregnancy, then a women has other options. If you are trying to prevent disease, then the female condom is limiting....it's only good for vaginal intercourse.

I see the female condom in much the same way as I see birth control pills for men. They are not for me.

Meaning I have to do something with what I learned in class. i.e. research further, discuss the topic with someone, spread the news, survey or poll people, etc.

Requiring people to use female condoms as part of an assignment would be unethical.

they suck
you gotta lube them all up inside
still just feel like you doing a latex glove
they weren't great for her either she indicated
increased worry about pushing the whole thing it hurts the mood a little

I've never used them but I have a friend who got paid to use a bunch of them as part of a study.

She said they weren't bad but there was nothing about them that would justify their cost over male condoms outside of the study.

i've never used them, and i doubt i will. my SO seems interested every once in a while, i think just curious about alternatives to condoms, but they're really expensive and i don't see any pros over condoms. and from the sounds of things here i'm not missing much.

One pro of a female condom over male condom is that it provides more surface protection, which is helpful for STDs like herpes and HPV which can be transferred from touching/rubbing of genitals against each other.

I chose never have never will.. Or "don't intend to" The issue there is I have always worn a condom with any parter I am not married to. I certainly don't dismiss the idea out-of-hand, but don't anticipate ever having the need to do so. I suppose I might if I HAD one, just to try it out. but again, the chances of one falling out of the sky are pretty slim too. :-)
