Im looking to buy one for my wife.

I would really like some input.

Which ones you may own, like, dislike.

If it is her first one, don't get too exotic. Just a regular ol' 4" to 6" long vibrator, with a smooth shaft and an on/off speed-control dial at the bottom. Go into any sex-toy shop and you'll see dozens of them.

If she's got one already, and you want something different, here's an idea. Some are small, rubbery, egg-shaped ones with little rubber spikes. They have a long cord that attaches to the on/off speed control thingee. It looks wierd and ineffective, but it ROCKS. This is the favorite vibe for at least two women I know. Sorry I don't know the name or have a link for you.

Get something waterproof. They are great fun in the shower or bath!

Go simple and cheap first. If she enjoys that one then go get the Hitachi Wand, Rabbit, or Fukyuokyou(however you spell that thing) which carry much higher price tags.

Not to sound cliche, but you can't get any better than an Hitachi Magic Wand. They're not too expensive, and supposedly are the best made. Can probably pick one up in a non-porn shop, too (they're supposed to be back massagers....yea....sure....)

If your wife has never used one and is a little leary, I would go very basic. I would get a normal sized vibe 6 to 7 inches. Get the plain white hard plastic vibe that comes with sleeves to slip over it. One sleeve looks like a penis, one is bumpy, etc. Then she has a choice of what she will like. If you get something that looks like a penis or something else, she may get putoff by it and never try a regular vibe. This is how my wife started using one. Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

I agree that the sleaves are a good idea. If your wife is sensitive, the rubber makes it feel more comfortable. waterproof is another good idea, but most importantly don't spend a ton of money on those things untill you know your wife likes them.
