About compliments on looks
This isn't going to be a very popular idea, i imagine. Anyway when someone compliemnts you on your looks how much can you take some kind of credit for that?
Meaning, your parent genetics etc is what primarily made you what you are and are the essential building blocks, which has nothing to do, really, with you as a person. Like it's handed to you by defualt you haven't really done anything or much to make it what you are. i understand people work out, eat right and wear stylish clothes and also, have other artifical enhancements, but basically a lot of it has to do with your primary genetics. So how much does it mean when your are judged either way, when you get compliments or what have you? Cause ultimatley, it is some kind of luck or lottery. Same when people get congratulated on winning the lottery? Why? I guess i am somewhat indifferent, but i got this idea in my head today whilst shopping  |
probably because the person doing the complimenting likes how you look.
I believe that half would be what your genes are, maybe 3/4, but the rest you have to do yourself, you can be born a nice looking girl, and still not brush your hair/wear tacky clothes/wear too much make up, and look hideous. |
BUt TRUE beauty shines through...
This, of course, we have all seen to be a fallacy. |
Congratulations are simply an acknowledgement that something good happened. It does not compliment of the person's ability.
con·grat·u·la·tion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kn-grch-lshn, -grj-, kng-) n. The act of expressing joy or acknowledgment, as for the achievement or good fortune of another. An expression of such joy or acknowledgment. Often used in the plural: sent him my congratulations on winning the lottery. |
Compliments on looks are generally made to make the person feel nice. I know I love it when a girl says I'm handsome.

I'm a reasonably good looking guy. However, if I wear sweats, eat a lot and don't work out, don't shave, let my hair grow, etc..
I'm not good looking anymore. Looks DO take effort. |
Don't compliment women too much on their looks, especially if they're super hot. That's my general rule anyway...
People never compliment me on my looks because I am teh ugly mofo :D  |
Well, being complimented can be many things, if you wear nice clothes have ya hair cut blah blah and look nice blah blah, ofcourse you will be complimented :)
Unless you walk around naked. |
I think it makes more sense to compliment someone on their looks then it does something like their name.
Sure looks are kind of handed out, but a lot of it is hard work also. |
i dunno, I get told I'm pretty all the time.... As far genetics, I'm sure it is part of it, but, I dont see myself as that pretty. I guess alot of it is how you take care of and present what you have. Each person has also finds another beautiful in different ways
Like in guys, i know other girls who like broad shoulders or tight buns... I like big men ehehheheh in all different ways heheheeh |
