Morning After Pill
let me start this thread by saying, 'shyt'. alright, i was with my girlfriend tonight and the usual thing happened... i went to go reach for condoms and i had ran out
i remembered some good advice my dad had given me, i think it went like this, "son, if the moment comes and you don't have a condom, don't have sex", ahh yes... but who listens to advice? anyway... to make a long story short she asked me to put it in, so i did...but, it was for only 10 seconds and i went out right after, nothing was released. i know that precum oozes out, but i hear that the vagina is lined with some acid that supposably kills sperm in the lower region? so basically, i can't sleep at night, i know that the chances of her being pregnant are not the highest but i don't want to take any chances. my question is: where can i get my hands on the morning after pill, and how effective is it? this happened 12/12/03 at around 9. thanks for any help.

ha HA! this happened to my boyfriend and me the first time we had sex. go to planned parenthood. if you do a google.com search, you'll be sure to find the website, and from there you can find one near you. if you can't find a PP near you, then go to a doctor. morning after pills are prescription and so you cant just get them in a grocery store or something. good luck.
quick edit: how long has it been since your girlfriend and you did the mattress mambo? if it's been more than five days, don't even bother. it's preferrable to get a prescription for morning after pills 72 hours after intercourse, but sometimes it takes close to five days. planned parenthood will become your best friend in these types of situations, its happened to me and my gf 2 times, but now she is on birth control. but definitely if you have any questions at all, check out a planned parenthood.

now i heard they might make the morning after pill legal and over the counter. i read a article and they are debating about it if it should be sold as a over the counter pill. it was in the new york times so you may want to look it up if u can. thought you may want to know about that. i just wonder when it will be sold in the stores, they said it will be sold in drugstores, but could also be as available as aspirin, on supermarket shelves or in convenience stores or gasoline stations.

cool beans... there's one 4 miles from where i live, not too shabby, this happened 4 hours ago so i'm well within the 12-24 hour maximum effectiveness range. yay, thanks for the suggestions, i'll make sure to take care of this tomorrow morning.

Don't wait if you can - the sooner she takes it the better. It's kind of expensive though, I think 40 bucks. But let me tell you, if it was 400 bucks it would be worth it if only for peace of mind.
Be warned though, she might get really sick. So be around to take care of her if this happens. |

When I got it, I had to go in. So take your girlfriend with you, don't expect them to just sell you the pill. They made me take a pregnancy test, then did height, weight, blood pressure, etc (I just wanted the fuckn pill!). THEN I had to talk to the nurselady ( she was a bitch), who gave me this HUGE lecture about birth control pills, and how having sex with ANYONE, even if it was my BOYFRIEND, even if we were both each others' FIRST, had a chance of getting STD's. THEN she wrote the script and I got the pills. It was like, $45 for it all at PP.

As long as she takes the pill within 72 hours of the act you'll be fine, and it's extremely reliable. Where do you all live that you need a prescription? In BC it doesn't require a prescription; there are actually a number of places in town that will give it to you for free if you don't have the $5 on you.

One thing to note, considering I cant add anything about how to get the pill - thats been covered, Planned Parenthood.
The morning after pill FUCKS with your system. My g/f spent a whole night vomiting, moody, and in all sorts of bad shape. It was a long time for both of us. Never go without a condom. The apprehension you feel afterwards is never worth the satisfaction of the act. Walgreens is open 24/7, surely if its that important, you can spare 20 minutes to do it right. I learned the hard way too. Never again. |

Just because the resource is there for a morning after pill doesn't mean that it should be abused. I think that too many people are taking unprotected sex lightly because they can just run to the nearest PP in the morning and get a little pill to 'cure' all their problems. If people would practice sex more responsibly (yes I know there are instances when a condom breaks, a girl gets raped, etc. I'm not talking about those right now), the 'need' for a morning after pill wouldn't be what it is today. /rant (sorry for the minor threadjack, I got kinda riled)
