Depression and sorts

Well, I thought I was pretty much over my ex, but I know that i'm not.. I found myself just crying/mumbling and just saying "omg I want you back, all I want is you" just to myself, I tried holding it all in, but it all came out tonight and I guess I am just really depressed (i've been depressed before) but it went away for a while..

Was wondering if anyone has any say, quick ways to get over someone or something?

Pretty weird question hey lol

Cheers

Well i usually drink by my self when I'm feeling depressed, it's not something i can recommend though.

Zorvox 12-06-2003 07:20 AM

Yeah, done that for the last week, spent $278 on it so far.. sick of it, just makes me want to kill myself.. need an alternative SAFE way / non-expensive way to get over her.. it's annoying there's no use not being over her when I can't even speak to her..

So it's pretty much useless.. want to move on.. NOW.

There is always medication. Paxil/Zoloft/Celexa. List goes on and on.

Try to find things that will keep you busy..

I got dumped last week, but right now I have my finals at school. So I'm so busy studying that I don't really have time to think about the breakup..

Besides, why should you be depressed? If you're a good guy, then it's really her loss. There are billions of girls, I'm sure you'll eventually another one; one that will love you for who you are and that will be glad to spend the rest of her life with you. Go out, meet new people, have some fun.

I hope that you are drinking responsibly - a brother of one of my friends killed himself over a girl just 2 weeks ago. It is truely not worth it.

That's the best first step that I could suggest. Hit the gym, pick up an old hobby, join a club - all will get your mind into new things and the opportunity of meeting new people. Best of luck with you, and I hope that you see yourself over this quickly. Breaking up with someone is never easy - no matter what side the break is coming from. But it is just another bump in life - and you don't want to make it into a hill.

Any others?

I know what you mean about being a guy. That could prove to be a bad thing if your in a place like me that has a 1:5 ratio for girls to guys.....

anti fishstick 12-06-2003 11:54 PM

the funny thing about drinking your problems away is that alcohol is a depressant..

Zorvox 12-07-2003 03:07 AM

Yeah I know.. I never use to drink, I actually use to smoke (marijuana) , but now.. all I find is that I want to drink.. and I don't smoke any more either...

Just want something productive to do to take my mind off things, I am starting my own business and have a fair bit of work to do, I am writing a story also - but I just can't be bothered with them right now.

la petite moi 12-07-2003 09:29 AM

I dunno, I was the same way. I would get really clingy to someone else after he dumped me. And I would cry all the time- not a nice feeling. I think the best thing to do is just get a new hobby to take your mind off it. Something that uses your hands and your mind. Like crafts- sewing, knitting...hey, it's not only for girls. Start a new sport, or start jogging or walking. Just get a new safe hobby. =)

Well it was mainly the whole "I feel secure in the relationship, things are good" then BAM!!!! Just end's out of nowhere.. so it was all sudden, then she wouldn't speak to me at all..

I hate it, I try to ignore it but then it's just all the little things that remind me of her, like sitting on the couch I look to the other side of the couch and she isn't there :(

Yup. My ex of 3 years taught me how good I could get at pool (billiards) if I just played a little more often. I did that to distract myself. And yeah, you'll move along. I said the same things to myself over that girl, but know that if it's meant to be, it will be, and if it's not... well, here you are. Things will be fine.

Learning about a new (or old) hobby or interest works well. I've just started running for this reason and the extra advantage is that it will get me in better shape, and that's obviously a plus for meeting other girls. And meeting other girls is the ultimate goal of getting over your ex.

taliendo 12-08-2003 01:21 AM

i hate to say this because i'm going to come off sounding like an ass, BUT - - - you need to find a rebound girl (who knows it could foster into a great relationship.) but either way, going out, moving on, and finding someone else to spend your time with will help you get your mind off of the loss of someone special to you. Even if she is a rebound girl at first, and you're just spending time with her because you don't want to be alone - maybe you'll find out that you really like her.

EDIT: sorry for sounding like a jerk - i fucking hate jerks. *stands in the corner full of self-loathing*

That's EXCELLENT advice. If you don't give yourself something to do, you're going to end up in a little black hole of yourself. (Speaking of which, drinking alone is a really bad idea. At least get a friend to be with you.)

Look, it sucks that you've broken up with her, but this is a good time to get around to doing things you couldn't before. Try them out! I promise it will help you get over her.

Thanks people, I think I found that rebound girl :)

Thing was, her name is "destiny" and we met in highschool, havn't seen her for 1 whole year or more hehe, funny cos when I was feeling down (most today) I just happen to run into her, which was weird - we spent like 3 hours together just wandering around chatting - she wants me to go to the pool with them tomorrow, but I can't be bothered :(
