Defining dodgy
 

Yesterday i had sent out some emails to people which where sex related, mainly jocular things on the web and sex articles etc.

Anyway, i got a reponse to one from this guy who said "hahaha im beginning to think ur more seedy than me :)"

This guy is pretty cool and we quite often joke about at uni about sex and stuff, and always point out good looking girls to each other etc. Since he's probably a little louder and extroverted than me, he probably appears (to others) to be quite dodgy himself.

Although when he said that, i got a little offended, even though he was joking and all.
Myself, i am quite openminded and can rationally and seriously talk openly about anything.

anyway, this was part of my response to him:

nah i am not really a dodgy fuck.

It all comes with open mindedness and the ability not to judge others so quickly or have preconceived ideas about things.
Just cause i may have sex on my mind and talk about a bit (like every fucking guy does anyway!) does not make me dodgy.
dodgy is when it's against the law :p
or when guys go up and just be dirty bastards and demeaning (especially to chicks), like how you somtimes suggest to walk up and grab a girls ass etc. That's always a little dodgy. BUt to talk openly about sex and other issues etc shouldn't really be considered to dodgy?
Anyway, i know you're always joking so it doesn't really matter too much.

we need more people to be more open about things and not so quick to judge...

i don't know why said any of this? but end of rant.

what does dodgy (in a sexual context) normally mean for you?

when i hear dodgy i think of a pickpocket running from tree to tree. I don't want to try and translate that into sexual terms.

I'd like to see the original e-mail that was sent so I could justify his comment.. ;)

from what I understand, dodgy means something totally different outside the states. actually, people here don't really say "dodgy" for anything.

That's about how i've ever heard it used. Since i'm american and it's not in my normal vernacular, i have no reference for conversational variations (slang).

dodgy Hmmmmmm.. Well here it is not really often heard here in the US atleast where i have lived. dodgy I think of my car, its a unique Dodge and when its not running as good as it should and it feels like an old cheap dodge... hence it is dodgy.. hehehehehehe

I use the word dodgey all the time. I think its very much a part of Australian slang. I hear it everywhere, my mates, at the shops, on the radio and tele. I use it just to say someones being an idiot. ie. My mate yesterday bought an ice-cream, and the shop guy gave him more change than he was supposed to, and my mate just kept it, didn't give it back, and i just said to him 'Ya dodgey bugger'. It seems to be used quite casually here. As for a sexual relevance, I'd say sleeping with anyone underage, or if a situation seems a bit risquë, I'd call it pretty dodgey.

Yeah over here if your dodgy you are normally up to no good.
If someone called you dodgy in a sexual way it could mean any number of things. They may be saying you have diseases or you are promiscuous, gay or into something really weird. It could also mean that your just a bit of a perv and like porn or something.

It really depends on how the word is used etc.
