This is probably not an answer that you would expect, but yes I was tested several times in the past.
The way the story goes is that I had an ROTC scholarship to go to college. I got all my shots and vaccinations during the summer. Then in September, I had to take my physical. I showed positive on the serology battery. So I had to give another blood sample. It was positive, but less so. So I did it again. It was still positive, but even less so. Finally, they figured out that my tetnus shot was giving a false positive for sphyllis. The thing that made it hard to explain was that I was still a virgin at that point and my mother was a nurse. So she knew what they were testing for. Of course, that was back in 1965.

It doesn't matter if you're careful or not, you should still get tested. You can never know 100% about the people you sleep with, as much as you love them and want to believe them, they might be lying or not know they have anything. You can get AIDS from oral, so it's not safe to THINK you're being careful enough.

I was tested once for HIV. I got this rare type of infection that's common in AIDS patients (probably due to stress-induced immune weakness) and my doctor recommended it, even though I was 99% sure I was safe. It was still a little nerve-wracking, and it was a relief to hear I was negative.

Yes, regularly! I'll bet nobody was expecting me to say that!
I'm tested for HIV and Hep-B, every 6 to 8 weeks or so. It's part of the normal screening process for every pint of blood donated at the Red Cross. Never been tested for anything else.... |

I voted No, but ratbastid has a point. I get tested when I donate blood. However I haven't intentionally been tested. I was celibate the whole time my wife and I were dating and have only been with her since then. That is around 13 years now.

Only by donating blood.
Other than that, I have no worries - it hasn't been anywhere it shouldn't have for at least fifteen years now. BTW - for all you virgins and cherry-poppers out there - it is very possible to get an STD while still refraining from actual intercourse. Be smart. Stay safe.

not regularly, but my current g/f and I both got tested before we started doing stuff. If one of us does mess up and cheat we have to get tested again, before things can start to go back to normal. and if we ever move on to other people, i plan on making sure that the next one gets tested too.

Last time I was tested was right before my marriage, 20 years ago. At least, specific test for STDs. I give blood regularly and they test then, but, I don't count that.

I ask for a full screening every year at my yearly physical AT LEAST. I take hormones and deal with BV and Yeast frequently as a result of the hormones so while they're down there they check for everything like that and then I just get some blood taken and I'm done. When you are swinging you have to be careful. We've become friends with the couples that we usually swing with and wouldn't want to give them something either. I know my best friend and her husband get checked frequently too - she shares her Dr stories with me and I with her. We did not get checked before hubby and I married because we had both been celibate and our parents had all been completely monogomos. It's best to make sure you are tested every 6 months or for HIV because it takes about 6 months usually for it to actually show it in the blood. More often then not they get positive tests back and when they recheck it's negative. The percentage of true HIV infections that they catch is VERY high.

i have only had sex with one man and he has only had sex with me. i went to give blood once (before i kept piercing myself and wasn't allowed to), but they couldn't find my vien, so i guess i haven't even been tested that way. i guess i could get tested because of my piercings, but i know the place well and i trust them.

When I was single, I got tested every time I started getting serious in a relationship. The waiting for results can be killer - I was occasionally stupid on one-nighters and didn't use protection. Lucky that I never caught anything...
Once I got a phone call from a girl I was banging on a semi-regular basis telling me that she might have been exposed to hepatitis - B or C, I forget which one but it was the one that kills your liver (and you). Turned out we both tested negative, but that was the LONGEST week of my life - thinking I may have killed myself by being such a dumbass. Do yourself a favor and USE PROTECTION! //gets off soapbox |

I get tested on a regular basis, but only because to keep on my birth control I have to have a complete exam every year. The only time I ever "needed" to get tested- I did so right away.

Been tested is so vague, but I'm guessing you mean HIV/AIDS. I get tested regularly during my physical exams for all the regular stuff.
By the way people, you don't get tested during your physicals for HIV/AIDS. You have to specifically request that. In my experience, I've met quite a few people who think when the doctor asks if you wanted to get tested it includes testing for HIV/AIDS but it doesn't. So... just a heads up.

I get tested for the Hep ad Aids and such every time I give blood (every 2 months or less)
Otherwise, for all STDs, I got tested last year, and havent slept with any other people other than my g/f, who is also clean. Ill test again if I ever change partners, but I dont see that happening... ever. |

I get bi-annual physical and I think it is a standard part of it. I've been manogamous since '85 anyway, so it is kind of irrelevant. When I met my then wife to-be aides was "gay cancer" and you had to consider not sleeping with a Haitian.

Never been tested for an STD
then again i've only had sex with one person. and we were both virgins at the time. (I know thats not a gurantee, but its been a year since out first time, and no problems so far for either of us) I'd assume if i had a physical checkup or gave blood i would have to be tested for various things, but since i only do intramural college sports these days I don't see that happening soon.
