Just got through reading the "dry spell" thread, thought I'd pose this question... When involved in a serious relationship (and maybe that in itself should be defined), what do you find to be your average frequency of sex (how often)? And as an addendum; what kind of sex do you have (iow, how do ya get it on)?

in the relationship i had with my ex that lived with me, it was 2 times a day, minimum. with my more recent ex, sceheduling was weird and it was once a day usually- although exteneded sessions were very common.

I had sex at least once a day, sometimes more.

Being cute, and initiating foreplay usually got us going. A touch on her breast, a kiss on the neck, or putting my hand down her pants and squeezing her butt while smiling and pecking her on the lips.

Girls have their way too, and those are really fun.

at least 5 times a week....usually more. it all depends on how schedules matched

work schedules can really interfere with sexual schedules :mad:

We have a 1 year old child, so we are down to 1-2 times per week. Was 3-4 times before.

never tried to calculate it.. I am seperated by 800 miles from my main lover,,, so way than I'd like... when we are together is it .... wait ... it is still way less than i'd like...

I have dated the same girl for the last two years and I am embarassed to say once a week. It is my fault. She wants to have sex all the time and I want to read. I work a lot and I don't get much free time. Man, I suck

danielboy, don't feel ashamed. I have been with the same woman for about 3 1/2 years and i think we have sex about once every 4 months. I even live with this woman. I think this is due to her B.C. because earlier in our relationship we had sex more.

... just a general lack of interest on her part .. which is why I have told her that I am actively persuing sex elsewhere. At first, the idea bothered her greatly ... but I said ... "listen .. we've broken up lots because I need to have energy back in my life - but it was always just for sex! I love you, and can't see myself connecting with anybody else on the same level .. so what am I to do? Continue breaking up with you .. only to come crawling back?"

We'll see how it all goes ...

After 12 years of marriage, it is 3-4 times a week which is actually slightly higher than it was early on in our marriage. The sex is much better to.

four years of dating, but also living with parents. it could be like 4 times one day and then not again for a couple weeks and then once a night for like a week and a half. very crazy. when we move out i'm sure we will go at it like bunnies for a while and then i will find sleep and such and it's settle down a bit, but hopefully still be frequent.

4-6, after 20 years of marriage. Less than that and we both get cranky.

Every day when the Mrs. is not on her period. Sometimes twice or three times a day on the weekends. We're having fun, fun, fun!

it was every day we were together while I was with my ex sometimes multiple times in the same hour. Now that i'm single, its only with myself.. every day, multiple times in a day.

Ive been married 8 years now... If we miss a day for some reason... (say I got too drunk at bowling) the next day the wife will tease me about me holding out on her and that its been so long since she has had some she is starting to feel like a virgin again... We generally have a very good time with it. I guess I would say its about 5 -7 times a week.

Pre-child 5-7 times a week. Post child....cue the crickets breaking an eerie silence. As the boy has gotten older, we are up to 1-3 times a week. We have been married for 71/2 years and frankly the sex is much better now.

I've had "dry spells" inbetween relationships.

But once I'm in a relationship, I'd say at least once a day.

How often is common for sex?
 

I'm a married guy and not happily so. Sex occurs once or twice a month if Im lucky.. I have great hygiene, not unattractive and an attentive lover. My wife says she has no complaints, she just has no drive.
Is this common? Or am I getting screwed in the wrong way?

They're are a couple of things to say in response to this.
1. is your wife on Birth Control? Some BC medications lower sex drive. If this may be the case, doctors can prescribe alternative BC's that will restore a better hormonal balance for your wife. In fact, look for the recent thread that mentions that here in tilted sexuality.

2.Have you spoken to your wife about this in the form of a mature conversation? Lowered sex drive in either sex can often be brought on by external factors such as stress or drastic life changes. If you two recently married, then this may be considered a drastic change from the norm. you stated "....and not happily so". are you aluding to other problems beyond sex life?

3. Did your wife previously have a large sex drive? has it diminished or is it consistent with before marriage?

All these will help us get a better understanding of what may be happening.
I'd think you and your wife need a long but mature talk about what's going on that's devoid of blame from both sides and aims to better understand the current circumstances. rememeber that communication in a relationship is key.

Non chemical induced lower sex drive always has something to do with situational factors.

In my case, my ex-wife lost her sex drive due to money problems we were experiencing. In our last year of marriage, I was lucky to have sex twice in ONE year. It also had snowballed into other related problems--which does not help intimacy.

Id talk to her and see what is in her mind. Keep it mature and be ready for a rude awakening. As a famous poet once said (GI Joe)--knowing is half the battle...

I'm not married, but I've been with the same girl for around 2 and a half years. We have sex probably 2 times daily, and that is almost everyday, except during her menstration. We're still young, I'm 23, she is 21, so yeah, we still have energy and our sex drives. As you get older your sex drive decreases, so it could be medication related on her part, or she just isn't interested. I can't really offer any help, and I don't codone going elsewhere for sex. Just sit her down and talk to her about it, tell her how you feel, and/or just prepare to visit the old days of masturbation.

Do you not have major running around to do when you don't work?

Do you not have other obligations all the time busting your hump?

I lived with a woman for 5 years and i thought our sex life was pretty good, but at most, it was 3 times a week due to exhaustion on both our parts.

We do it 1 time a week usually.

When I was 19 or 20 me and the gf would do it at least twice a day. On weekends even more. Boy those were great times. We were together for two or three years. I was so obsessed with her. She was the focus of my life. Actually, having sex with each other was the focus of our lives together. I miss that girl. I have no idea what ever happened to her. Life is funny like that.
