Why are boobs so good?
 

About a week ago, one of my friends was quite intoxicated whilst i was sober and he was asking me some really stupid and obvious questions.

Anyway, one of them was do you like boobies?
I was laughing and said, "yeah of course, everyone (namely every guy) does"

This isn't about size or anything, but just boobs in general, all forms.

That got me thinking though, why are they so good? and what do you actually really like about them?

The kind of squishiness (word?) is really nice to feel and caress. Also for some other reason aethestically it seems so hard not to look at, even under clothes!

Although, ultimately they're not too away from just spots of fat and glandular tissue (sorry to reduce it to that), so its a little hard to think why they're still do good and desirable?

The same kinda question can be posed to girl's butts, or even guys, or any other body part but i am mainly interested in boobs for the time being :p

Maybe there is some inconcious insticts from our primitve days which fuel some desire for them i don't know.

Also, just going off on a bit of a tangent, why is a girl taking her top off is considered to be so much different from a guy taking his off?

Freud would probably say: "You suck on your mom's boobs for the first few years of your life, so its something familiar to you. Sucking later on becomes sexual, so its familiar and sexual. And every guy wants to screw their mom and kill their dad anyway, so a socially acceptable substitute is finding mommy-like features in the person you want to screw." (my friend, masquerading as freud)

That sounds good enough to me, and does work, come to think of it, my g/f is shaped kind of like my mom, but I didn't really need that mental image at the moment.

They're good because you're taught they're good, no more no less.

Consider, at one time, ankles were considered VERY sexy, so much that they were covered up.

In strict Islamic lands, women are forced to wear the Burqua which covers every inch of skin, and again, a flash is considered risque (and an offense to Sharia).

Here, we still cover breasts and hence, you want to see them because they (and what sits between the legs) are what encompass "sex" to us.

If they were exposed all the time and no one cared, you wouldn't get nearly as turned on by them as you are.

You know, as a female, sometimes it would just be nice to go topless ;) Especially on those real hot days.

well, sience say that boobs are the replacement for the ass. Because back in the days when we were sill running around mostly on four legs the ass was the primary sexual attraction. But now we are only on two legs and we don't have that ass in front of us anymore.

From research that I have read (and my own personal studies ;)) many scientists believe it is because they are symmetrical.

Go figure.

Its just the thrill of things we dont see too often. Women nowadays pretty much reveal every portion of their body except the most obvious portion that stands out. Therefore we want to see what we cannot.

i actually don't really know, i tend to agree with Lebell that we're taught their sexy and beautiful.
One reason i guess is my girlfriend has really sensitive nipples and she loves me playing with them! and i never complain! they're just so lushious and inviting!

Humans are the only creatures that have permanently enlarged breasts. Other species only enlarge when nursing. Apparently there is a hard wired erotic connection in human males.

Boobs are so kool to us because their intentional use is to feed infants, but we like to rub, feel and suck on them so were kinda crossing the fence and it feels damn good too. Us men love doing shit out of the ordinary.

Yeah, and guys used to cream themselves over an exposed bra strap- it's cultural. Just love them, man!!

You know I have wondered what we find attractive in a mans body..... well there is 'ONE' thing. And if our brains are in our head and chests then how come you guys only have ONE and its in your pants geesh!

Because male reproductive success in humans depends heavily on mating with reproductively capable females, selection over thousands of generations should favour those males who prefer to mate with reproductively capable females.

Unfortunately for us stupid men, reproductive value and fertility are not attributes that can be observed directly. Breasts are an indicator of reproductive value and fertility. ie: they show that a girl is nubile, healthy, and of reproductive age.

Breasts are a cue our brain picks up on that tells us the girl is nubile and fertile. Hence men are genetically predisposed to like "firm, round (saggy, mishapen = old, and not fertile), large (girl has gone through puberty), etc." breasts as these indicate all the features that selection would have designed us to respond to.

I once dated a girl who's boobs looked like an orange in a tube sock when she would bend over...

I agree, as stated before, it is very much a matter of conditioning. I have nursed my daughter for 3 years and have encountered a lot of opinions of this. The most negative opinions of nursing came from women actually. One in particular accused me of forcing my infant (2 months old) daughter to suck on a sex organ. She came from a very conservative environment where a skirt shorter than the knees or anything below the collarbones was risque. She'd been trained to think of them as so much more sexual than otherwise.

I've also learned that most men seem to be facinated by my current ability to lactate. I think the unfamiliar is titillating to some people and it's part of the sexual turn on in this case.

Also - human tits do expand during pregnancy and breastfeeding and return somewhat to their original state. They are already expanded much more than animals but they do expand temporarily. Mine expanded a whole cup size from pre pregnancy to post pregnancy mid breastfeeding.

No, I'm sorry people, I need recognition of my vast intellect. My post says all you need to know, and should end the debate on this matter.

We do not learn to like breasts. That thought is ridiculous. Sexual attraction is innate, not learned. If it was learned the very first humans would never have been able to reproduce.

And if a cross-cultural attraction mechansim is present in a species, there must be a psychological mechanism that produced this reaction, that has been selected for.

This really is not a difficult question, and definitely not a rhetorical one.

First of all Im a breast man. Secondly i have seen many men with breasts and I dont get turned on by them. I think it is a combination of factors. 1) We dont get to see them very often (at least not often enough for me) so we are facinated by the mysterious. 2) We associate it with sex, nipples are sensitive and feeling/sucking them increases sexual pleasure. So every time we look at them we associate those images with the physical satisfaction of sex. 3) As a general rule men dont have them so we are facinated by them more. 4) instincually we associate breasts with breat feeding. Breast feeding comes from feeding children proving reproductive capability. One of strongest instincts is to reproduce the species. 5) We are continually told by our society that they are sexual organs and we all want to have sex (maybe not together though). 6) They feel really nice.

I tend to agree... nice big firm breasts = girl is ready for sex.
too small they make the girl look too young for sex.
too saggy and the girl is too old for sex.

I've been single more than half my adult life, and Shacked up, single, married, divorced and remarried. Funny thing is that when I'm connected with a woman, breasts don't mean much to me. Oh, sure, I enjoy them, but they aren't what rocks me about my lover.

However, when I'm single, and lonely for a time, I start to have erotic dreams about breasts, begin noticing them on girls more and more obsessively, etc. My thought is that boobs become a symbol in my head for the sex I'm not enjoying. A symbol of the sexuality of the woman. When I'm a woman's lover, I enjoy her entire sexuality, and the symbol loses its obsession, and becomes just a nice set of fondable curves. It is a pleasure to have her inhale when her nipples are touched.

So I think boobs are hooked into the male psyche as symbols or erotic pleasures that females have to offer. Besides, there are no two alike, so it is constantly fascinating to notice each pair for their unique beauty. I believe even girls take notice of one another's boobs, for that uniqueness reason.

I think that it is because, well at least here in the US, they are always hidden. If they were on TV and stuff and not such a "bad thing" to be shown, the attention would be drawn to another part.

I like boobs because they taste good. when I suck on them, the person who is having them sucked enjoys it. I like thembecause i can nibble and bite them. i can cup them. They can be held onto both from front and behind. THey hold a pillow to me while i lay my chest and my head on them. They allow a cushion while they are lain on me. They are something to hold onto while i spoon. They are soft. They are warm. They taste good. I could suck on them for hours.

This is why I like them.

i have read somewhere that breast size is related to the amount of estrogen in the womans system. more estrogen = more fertile. therefore, bigger boobs = more fertile. its all related to instincts.
