Are men really more stimulated by visuals than women?
I am a male, and I am very stimulated by visual stimuli. I love porn of all kinds, and love to simply watch women (trying not to be obvious, of course) whether at the beach or in church. Seeing just does it for me.
My questions: Guys and girls, do you get highly turned on by things you see, or not? Do you enjoy porn? Do you have experiences where you saw something that made you very horny? Please tell your experiences! I was at a city park a few months ago and there was a young couple making out under a tree, but very near (20 feet) where I was. She was blond, sexy, and she had on a pink bikini that fit her like a glove. She was on top of straddling him, grinding her ass into his crotch. I have thought of that many times in private (if you know what I mean :O) I have more stories, but I'll wait till later....

We ladies enjoy the visuals just as much as guys do. Although some ladies will never admit it because they've been taught that ladies aren't supposed to enjoy visuals such as porn, (esp. well done porn - nice lighting, good make up, beautiful people and so forth).

I have to disagree with hunnychile. Although visual sometimes does it for me, I much prefer the written word or auditory stimulation. A good short story, novel, or just talking sexy is what gets me hot.
Having raised 3 boys and been around many male friends, etc. I do believe that men are much more visual. And personally, I find nothing wrong with it -- it just is.

Visual does it for me most of the time. Sometimes I get off on literature, but not very often.
I agree with sexymama that this is just the way we are.

While women can get off by visual in some cases, men overwhelmingly get off on it most of the time. Our brains compute visual stimulants differently and so it affects us differently.

I've heard it said that, "All men are voyeurs; all women are exhibitionists."
While that is a blatant generalization, there's probably a kernel of truth hidden in there. It would certainly explain the popularity of strip clubs. . . . .oh - and the porn industry.

It is so incredibly obvious that men are horndogs who need visual stimulation. While women can certainly appreciate visual stimulation it has to be significantly less of a motivator. Also, men need NEW visual stimulation. That is why porn sites are constantly updated with new stuff. Not many sites around with millions of women paying to see pics of guys - "obvious"...

But on the other side, working with the women in the clubs has been and continues to be a very learning experience. Must remember that the popularity of the clubs is directly provided by the women who provide that kind of adult entertainment. It is quite a thing to get a good look into the average mindset of the adult club entertainer. Especially as regards looks and perspectives of entertainer clients. Jdoe |

I love visuals! Yes I'm a chick and I look at porn. I have heard that women respond more to visuals than men because women tend to use their minds to orgasm more than their bodies. Women are naturally more visual about things not just sex, take for instance how they dress, how they notice everything!

Hell, I get turned on by the things I read!
I think there is a slight difference in comfort and arousal level, depending on whether I'm seeing people in the flesh or via some other medium. I guess I'm in the habit of looking away from naked people out of propriety or something, which can sometimes be embarassing for me (unless it's in the context of art or BDSM).

I enjoy visuals and definately enjoy porn. I find that just looking at the the woman, man, or picture don't do it for me alone though. It is the springboard for my imagination. I have a pretty wild imagination and when I see someone and I'm in the right mood I will begin to imagine what I would do or want to be done with that person.
It's about the same for me looking at a woman or a man. The thing that does a little more for me is when I'm talking to a man and I notice he's got a hardon. I think that's the part of the Exhibitionist side. I get as turned on or more knowing that a man is turned on by me or watching me. The biggest part of it all is my state of mind. When I'm thinking about sex then all it takes is a nice porn pic. When I'm not thinking about sex and thinking about my job or otherwise you can just about strip naked in front of me and it won't faze me.
