Flirting? WTF?
We all flirt. It’s apart of everyday life. At least for me it is.
Now, last night I met a very nice kitten through a friend of mine at a party. We hit it off right from the start and everything seemed to be going really well. We found out we have a lot in common and a lot of mutual friends around town. Then with no notice she flipped on me and starting being really rude. She blew smoke in my face, knocked my drink out of my hand, she would leave the room when I walked in, and she would straight up ignore me when I tried to talk to her. WTF? I asked her roommate what the problem was and if I had done anything to upset her. Her roommate said that she was just flirting with me. What kind of flirting that? How is being a bitch to a guy flirting? Then all of a sudden she took me aside and apologized for being rude and asked if I wanted her number. WTF? I told her that I was about to give up and write her off as a psycho and go on with the party. She said that she would understand but that she really wanted to go out with me. I don’t fucking get it. Needless to say I took her number and told her I would call her next week. Then she asked if she could kiss me. She had nice lips. So, what kind of flirt are you? I’m more of the funny/smart/cute/sensitive kind of flirt. I tell jokes, listen to stories that I don’t care about, and discuss current events. It’s best done if you can find a way to touch the person a little. Like an arm around the shoulders or a gently placed hand on a knee. How do you flirt? What’s your moves?

smiles, eyes, looks, glances, light touches, double entedres. If that doesn't work I put the girl in a head lock and force myself on her. No, no, no,... I am a flirt. I love to flirt. Hell, I even flirt with the fat, gross, smelly toothless ugly ones just because it's a chance to flirt.
How shallow. Flirting is an artform not enough people master. But that girl you described was new to flirting and obviously psycho. Call her, act really mean and rude to her, use and abuse her and she will never leave your side. Women are weird like that.

Prefered method of flirting: teasing. Whether maliciously or playfully, I like to throw in a couple of thinly veiled innuendo and wisecracks. I'm probably the kind of bitch that WK described, but less physical and more playful/verbal. Any excuse to brush against someone is a good excuse if I'm into you. I flirt pretty agressively unless I get struck with one of those days when I'm just not feeling confident enough to even speak.

eye contact, cheeky smiles and gentle (seemingly) random body contact.
WK, if a girl flipped on me like that, i´d have thought UNSTABLE, and given up straight away. that kind of flirting just doesn´t appeal to me. but it sounds like thats not natural for her, almost like someone told her it´d work.

I'm totally clumsy at flirting and have no idea how to do it. You'll have to ask Ratbastid if I'm any good at it cause I have no idea.

It usually depends on the person I'm flirting with. I tend to read people really well and usually go with a flirtatious manner that I believe will appeal to the man. Be it intelletual, mind games; sexy looks and soft touches, I usually laugh a lot and smile.
I generally turn my flirt sessions to music at some point or another to find out exactly what kind of person I'm dealing with. And that's when I go in for the kill. Weird, I know. But I tend to take the boy (or girl) nine times out of ten.

I'm not really sure how I flirt, but if you count manhandling my friends' boobies and sitting on laps of people I'm not trying to date as flirting, then there you go. I typically avoid most eye contact because it makes me uncomfortable. Using my smile as a gauge of flirty-ness is not accurate since I smile a lot when I'm uneasy as well. I have a thing against the whole "gentleman" crap (for somewhat feminist reasons). I'm not a huge fan of physical contact with humans, unless it's to fondle squishy woman goodness and when I do, it's not with the intention of going to bed with them. They're just squishy goodness.
I pick up on other people flirting. It's usually not with me, though. And if it is, it usually makes me uncomfortable.

Eye contact and being extra gentleman-ly usually do it for me. As well as spending more time with that person than usually and speaking to them when I get the chance, even if it's just a "hello". If the chick wants a badass, she'll have to go somewhere else.
Eye contact and smiling are key though.

Haha, sorry to hear that you hit it off with a nutcase. I would be done with her too. I just don't like having to deal with stupid things like that.
As far as flirting, it depends on who I'm flirting with. Sometimes I'm subtle... sometimes I'm incredibly obvious. Usually I'm pretty obvious about it, but a lot of times it's so bad the girl doesn't think I'm serious.

I flirt with everyone. Hell, it's part of my damned job if I wanna make good tips!!!
But I'm a NICE flirter - double entendres, jokes, playful touching, etc. Not to brag or anything, but I think I'm a kickass flirter. Yeah - I think that's my skill/talent. (Too bad it isn't very marketable...) |

But I do tease - I'll admit it. But it's funny teasing, nothing hurtful or rude. I think teasing's just easy. I also kind of try to give one of those wink-smile faces - I can't really explain it. I just find my face contorting and realize later what I was doing. I guess it's similar to the plain old flirt smile...not sure. And I'm gentlemen-ly. I mean, I open doors regardless, for any girl...but I'm consciously doing it when I do it for those I flirt with.

wow WK, i really think that's a very abnormal flirting method. best bet is to stay away, but please let us know what happens.
I'm a major flirt with the ladies. Luckily, the girlfriend doesn't mind. It usually comes down to playful touching and playfulness in general. Eye contact seems to work. It's just fun to flirt (haha - as long as I'm getting a response) |

Wk she sounds like a bunnyboiler. If she buys you a gun rack run. "We broke up 2 months ago Stacey.
Im told Im one of the biggest flirters around but I dont know why. I just be me. Though I do have a funny story about a party I went to a few months back. It was a 'Heavan and Hell' uni party where you had to go as someone from either heavan or hell. I put on a bath robe and went as Jesus. I look like him too. Anyway I had all these cans of beer in my pockets throughout the night. I was starting to get friendly with this swedish chick. I so love swedish chicks. Anyway we hugged. She backed off blushing like hell. I thought that was wierd but the next day when I sobered up I realised what happened. As I hugged he she felkt the beer in my pocket and thought I was pressing my hard on against her. I thought it was heaps funny. Would that be considered flirting? |

I don't know if it's flirting so much, because i'm not in the market for a girl right now, I am already with one and am very happy with her.
That being said, I love having as many friends as I can, and perhaps if I were after the sexual attention of the female I'm talking to, it might be considered flirting, based on the need I'm fulfilling... but maybe if it's simply to ingratiate myself with a girl so she'll be a good friend, would that still be flirting? I have no intention of anything further than friendship, although I guess being flirtatious really has to do with making an effort to get as far as possible, whereas I'm only aiming as high as "friend". Guys are different. You think another guy is cool and become friends, or think he's a dickhole or stupid, etc., and don't. Sometimes the lines are blurred if you think he's a dickhole but is a good friend of a good friend- then it can become complicated. Other than that, guys don't "work" on being better friends with each other. Last edited by analog; 09-21-2003 at 11:27 AM.. |

I have been told by my close female friends that I am the sweetest guy that they know...(ok not trying to pat myself on the back here, just answering the question honestly) so I guess I flirt by paying attention and looking into her eyes and smiling and laughing a lot. I totally engage myself into our conversation (which sometimes leads me to be caught up in three hour conversations with super hot and super sweet girls that I totally think I'm gonna hook up with and then they tell me they're engaged...but that's a story for another time)
If I know the girl, though, and I know a little bit about her, I totally change my tune. Chances are they already know that I'm a pretty nice guy, so I feel like I can be a little bit bolder and more aggressive, so I tend to be really sarcastic with them, but still in a sweet endearing way, so they know that I'm just playing with them. It seems to work really well for some reason... I have a habit of dating girls that I am good friends with first, and a friend of mine once told me "Dude, I can totally tell when you REALLY like a girl, because you act like suc a sarcastic prick around her..." It's a thing I have, I guess... |
